Sorry it's past the day itself in your time zone, [livejournal.com profile] dickgloucester, but I hope you had a wonderful day.

(Now to go scan my friends' page and see if you did.)

When it rains, it pours? Or is that deluge something else...

*sigh*

At least this is for the week, not the day...

Because really, it's just a to do list. )

Today was Page's 2nd birthday party. (Yes, he's 9, but he's only had 2 birthday parties, including this one, because, well, I tend to be a party-pooper, healthwise, this time of year. I decided to forego class as well as turn a paper in (5 hours) late so that I'd have the energy to deal with the party prep and all the people this time around.)

It went much better than his first birthday party, which was last year. I think having it here at home helped, as well as the fact that the majority of the invitees knew each other already. Also, Page was the games-master, so all we adults had to do was help with the food prep and such. (Next year will be a make your own tacos party instead of make your own pizza. OMG. It ended well, but O.M.G.)

I am glad I got a box of ice cream so that those who don't like coconut (the majority of the kids) could have a treat.

I'm also very glad I didn't bother washing the floor beforehand.

So, yeah. Kinda proud of myself, even though it would have been an unmitigated disaster without Geoff (and one of the parents) around to help. Still, I'm pleased. And pooped.

Gonna relax for the rest of the evening and take tomorrow off of church. And then it's back to the grindstone for me. yay. But only a month left of that particular grindstone, and then I get 6 weeks off. That should help a lot.

Today has been a rather ordinary day, all said, but even as the errands that I needed to do were uninspiring, they went smoothly enough. (Well, except for the smoking oven, but the auto-clean is dealing with that right now.) I'm not terribly fond of the new driver's license photo, but then, I don't look horrible or insane, either. Just heavily-browed. >;-] On the downside, it's possible my vision has degraded even further, as I couldn't make out the numbers on the right side of the vision testing thingy. Not even when squinting.

However, that's not really worth worrying about now. Especially as there were two wonderfullnesses that expelled all the day's minor demons.

One: I had the pleasure of receiving notification of my passing the English Comp CLEP. That not only saves me many hours of tedium, but also many hundreds of dollars. So yay! I have 19 (non-art-school, i.e. transferable) college credits to my name, now. Whee!

And two: I got a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my in-laws. It, unfortunately, has to stay outside due to my allergies, but I've placed them next to the pot of geraniums, where they look quite cheery and pretty.

Otherwise, I've spent the day resting from my rather painful visit to the acupuncturist this morning (two nights of less-than-stellar sleep have reduced my pain tolerance significantly) and reading "Pride and Prejudice." I'm not sure if it's because it's a different edition (Norton critical) or if the previous edition I read was slightly abridged or if I just was a more careless reader in the past (or all three), but I am finding new gems of characterization and wit within almost every chapter. Needless to say, I'm enjoying the reread quite a lot.

And now I should go pick up Geoff so that he can go to the store to pick up propane for the grill and meat to grill on it (I've asked for steaks for dinner). We'll have the blueberry muffins I made in the smokey oven for cake afterwards. (I'll make a proper birthday cake on Saturday or Sunday, so that it can be a shared birthday/father's day cake.)

Cheers!

Bah humbug

I hate it when good shows make dumb mistakes just for the sake of draaahma (and sweeps).

Spoilers for Castle )

In other news, three boxes that held Magic cards have been thrown out due to mold, and a fair chunk of the cards in them (all commons and uncommons, fortunately). And being downstairs with the cupboard doors open and the cards being aired has definitely made me wheezy and sicker.

As soon as Geoff is finished getting them out and sorting through them, he has the task of tilexing the shit out of the cubby behind the cupboard. And hopefully that will take care of both Babe's and my coughs.

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day, as I'll need to clean the kitchen and start cooking again (as well as pay the bills, do the filing and prepare the paperwork for taxes). Geoff will be getting a flourless carrot cake belatedly. Too many cards and too little energy today to get it done, which sucks for Geoff. He's seems rather satisfied, however, because he's been able to sort through his Magic cards and watch Daria all day long. So that's a good thing, I s'pose.

But now I really do need to go. I think I need a hit off the inhaler, or some anti-inflammatories or something. (ETA: Yep. It's a bad sign when taking half a hit of albuterol actually makes you drowsy/relax. I feel much better now.)

Damn mold.

I'm not completely satisfied with this, so I may tweak it a bit in the near future. Just so's you know.

And it's more silly than "tender", though it is rather simple and is definitely SS/HG.

Hope you like.

Thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes. Considering my dismal record of birthday wishing, I am supremely grateful anyone at all considered giving me a shout out. *hugs*

Also, thank you [livejournal.com profile] kribu for the lemur! It took me a few seconds to figure out which end was which, but that was just an extra bonus of amusement!

Yesterday itself was... pretty good. The morning was quite nice, the afternoon less so, but the evening had mud pie, so that automatically made it perfect.

If interested, details... )

On the whole, it was a mellow day, but it was also a pretty good one.

And this morning, it struck me how very much priorities shift with having kids. For example, I was pleased as punch that Babe ate almost all of my morning oatmeal. I'd say he ate a full Pumuckl mug's worth!

And Happy Birthday Kribu!

May the day be bonny and blithe.

If you celebrate, that is.

If you don't, I hope you enjoy the day off.

highs and lows )

Thanks for the birthday wishes! It has been a good weekend for the most part. I will answer your posts individually when I have relocated my braincells.

*hugs*

Well, poo. My computer died. Or rather, Geoff's computer died along with the ethernet, so I am currently at the library to post this.

First, happy belated birthdays to everyone whom I haven't wished happy birthday to. I'm sorry I'm not naming you by name, but my (lack of) memory combined with my lack of time and frazzledness factor means I will forget someone, and I don't want to hurt any feelings. Know that I thought of everyone of you on your birthday, even if I didn't mention it on LJ that day. Also, happy birthday to those whose birthdays are coming up. May this coming year be wonderful for you and your loved ones.

Second, I was going to post the epilogue of SMHC today to completely finish it off, but... I will see if I can do so on this computer (thank goodness I sent it off to Sun for betaing before the computer died so it's accessible!), but if I can't, I apologize for the delay.

Third, I'm off to the beach! With Geoff! Whee! We should be back Sunday evening, although I'm not sure the computer will have recovered by then or not. *shrug* But anyway, I am SO looking forward to this break, you have no idea.

So, happy weekend, all!

ETA: Epilogue is up! Cheers, all!

[livejournal.com profile] septentrion1970 and [livejournal.com profile] apisa_b! May your days be full of loveliness, doting husbands and happy daughters!

Muchas smooches!

Happy Birthday, dear Subversa. I hope your wrists and hands are happy, and that you can celebrate in as joyous a fashion as you desire.
averygoodun42: (Default)
Happy birthday to both my dad and to [livejournal.com profile] kribu.

Kribu, I hope you are feeling better and that this year brings you lovely camera parts and painless remodels and health - lots and lots of health - and all around happiness!

Dad, if you're reading this, when Babe wakes up from his nap we'll give you a call. Assuming I can remember for that long. ;-)

Yesterday was completely and totally awesome. It was such a happy day, my face hurt from all the smiling I did.

Good times were had... )

It was a thoroughly lovely day and a wonderful way to start off this fresh new decade.

Being away from the computer all day yesterday, though, I missed just about everyone's birthday wishes; thank you for the kind thoughts. And presents! [livejournal.com profile] cecelle made me this wonderful icon:

[livejournal.com profile] rosedemon gave me a lovely virtual flower!

And [livejournal.com profile] zalena sent me a beautiful cross-stich purse and a gorgeous book of quotable Thoreau. The colors of the purse are perfect, and the book is inundated with beautiful watercolors.

And Geoff's present to me is that he's taken Babe to work with him for a couple of hours so that I can have some much needed recovery alone time. :-) :-) :-)

I am so blessed to have such wonderful people in my life, and even more blessed that I can call you friends.

*smooches everyone*

Things I didn't do...

:-(

Wish [livejournal.com profile] scatteredlogic, [livejournal.com profile] vanityfair00 and [livejournal.com profile] rosedemon happy birthdays. Sorry gals. I'll write you drabbles if you wish, just give me prompts, K?
averygoodun42: (Default)
To [livejournal.com profile] mundungus42! And a happy belated birthday (I'm so sorry I missed it!) to [livejournal.com profile] darth_kittius!

I will attempt to do something special for each of you, however, it won't happen for a little bit. Hopefully this weekend will give me time and mind to concentrate.

:-)

May the year ahead be fruitful and fun!

I did give you birthday greetings back when it was your birthday, but I didn't give you a gift as I don't like blondes, and I believe that's what you asked for.

Well, it took a while, but I finally managed to scrounge up a blonde (of sorts) for you.

Here you go... )

I hope you like it. Happy unbirthday!

Now... who've I forgotten? Who do I owe? At this point, you're going to have to remind me.
