Year End Meme
1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
I started going to a community college, I attended an HP con and I really committed to achieving good (or at least manageable) health (see icon).
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't know that I made any last year. More arting? If so, didn't keep it. Ach well.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, although it seems like a hell of a lot of the people I'm close to went through that.
5. What countries did you visit?
Canada.
6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
More of a clue. Better health within the entire family.
7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
This is something that just doesn't happen for me. Time, in the long term, is too mutable, and my memory doesn't work that way.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Staying on this bloody diet - pretty strictly for the most part, too! Or else getting the albatross of the mural off my shoulders...
9. What was your biggest failure?
The lack of enjoyable arting.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I broke my butt in May (torn gluteus). The region still hurts, dammit. Otherwise, it's been a blissfully event-free year for me!
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Dunno, though at this point I'm thinking the new office chair. (I can sit w/o pain! Whee!)
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
*ahem* Mine. I've been far more responsible this year than in prior years. I still have my ups and downs, but I really have been a good girl this year.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Page's.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Medical bills, health insurance and rent. It's amazing how much easier the bank accounts are to manage now that we aren't purging over $400 a month (we don't really have) for catastrophe insurance for all of us.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
School! Whee!!!
16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Probably "Beard Lust" by Natalie Portman's Shaved Head, though that mutable time thing makes that unlikely.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier... probably. I was still pretty euphoric over surviving this time last year. I can't remember when that wore off.
ii. thinner or fatter? I think slimmer, though hopefully heavier.
iii. richer or poorer? 'Bout the same, though far more hopeful.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Art and playing with Page. Socializing.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Facebooking, I suppose. Frittering time away, anyway.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent Christmas lazing about in my PJs reading "Bone" until it was time to cook dinner.
21. How will you be spending New Years?
At a rockin' New Year's Eve party. Weird.
22. Did you fall in love in 2011?
I'll say yes, because I re-fell in love with both my husband and son. (Thank you, antidepressants!)
23. How many one-night stands?
Erm... Never was that kind of gal, even before getting married.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Castle.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't know that I actually hate anyone. I don't think I'm avoiding any more people than I was last year.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Lily Allen. I think that was this year, anyway (mutable time thing).
27. Favorite film?
The King's Speech. Damn, that was good.
28. What did you want and get?
A new office chair and an education! Oh, and another shaver-style veggie peeler. I got two of those! (And white towels, and the front tree gone, and a garden and... yeah. Blessed.)
29. What did you want and not get?
Behavioral improvements in the child...
30. What was your favorite live/stage experience of this year?
Um... We went to see the community production of The Sound of Music. That was a treat... Haven't been to any shows in... about a year.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Can't remember. Turned 33.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Less behavior issues with the child.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Warm and comfy.
34. What kept you sane?
School, Geoff, facebook, sudoku and the LA Times online daily crossword. Oh, and the anti-depressants and a few sessions of EMDR.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hmm... did I drool over anyone this year? *shrug* The usual: Jason Isaacs, Hugh Jackman and Christopher Nolan.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
This year? Gosh... Gay marriage, I guess. Or OWS.
37. Whom did you miss?
My family and old friends.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011.
Take those damned antidepressants and then speak up! You need to be heard.
