Purging Cupboard Love

I have an enormous amount of work to do today, and I hope to get at least the more important aspects done. Like the laundry.

One of the things I have to do, however, is go through my baking cupboard and record how much of everything I have. I want to get rid of it all, and I figure the best (most productive) way to do that will be to bake for the church's concert night. That won't be for almost a month, but that gives me time to assess and find recipes to use the amounts of stuff I have.

Time for a chart, I suppose. ;-)

So far on the list of things to make is:

brownies (frosted)
coffee cakes (to use up yeast)
banana bread (probably 2 loaves)
nanaimo bars (to use up the custard powder)
fudge (maybe. I have one can of condensed, sweetened milk and about one cup of corn syrup... I will look for other recipes, though)
pumpkin bread or cake or something***

That should make the concert night organizers happy. And coffee hour happier, too, as I imagine some of that will be left over for the church crowd.

I will also have to make a cake or two to use up the cake flour, but that will likely not be for concert night, as cakes tend to be a bit messy when eaten without forks. However, I also have canned pineapple to use up, so pineapple upside down cake will be made at some point. Not for Babe's birthday, however, because he's getting chocolate-cherry cake with frosting. He, Geoff and M&M should enjoy that (although I know PUC is one of M's favorites... perhaps I'll make it to take down to her one day? ~is bad, bad, temptress of a friend~

***Perhaps pumpkin bread/cake/whatever, or perhaps pie for some other purpose, as I have a ton of crisco to use up, and pie crusts use a fair amount of the stuff. I suppose I could make pumpkin tarts for the concert night, though... And, if there's any brown sugar left after the baking extravaganza, butter tarts.

Oh, and I'm looking forward to Halloween because that will get rid of our candy stash in the freezer. It hasn't been tempting me, but it needs to go.

Wow. After I use up this stuff, I'm going to have room in my cupboard! Yay! And I'll have empty containers to put my dried beans in, and room to store them within reach... And I might move my big stand mixer to the top of the fridge after all is said and done, which would leave the counters looking nicer, too! And, if I remember to find a recipe that uses strawberries, I'll have more room in the freezer, too! Yay!

But now for laundry. Fun fun fun.

And after that, set the chicken to marinate.

But before either of those, breakfast! I've made myself hungry somehow.

Mmm, nice! You might want to try lime oil another time - it's a recent discovery of mine, and I find the flavour more intense but less acidic than juice.
I'm planning to use brown sugar, soy sauce, lime oil, chilli, and garlic.

Is cilantro coriander leaf?

That sounds good, too, although I won't be trying it anytime soon. :D

I believe so, yes.
