Cooking matters

Does anyone know a good substitute for wine for spaghetti sauce? The sauce I made needs some wine to make it decent, but I don't have any on hand.

I've used some cooking sherry instead. If you don't have that either, a splash of red wine vinegar or balsamic also adds a nice flavor boost!

Oh! Thank you! Balsamic is just the thing that will make it right, I think.

That's exactly what I was going to recommend - balsamic

Balsamic is good for just about everything! ;-)

Not a big fan of balsamic vinegar, here. Apple juice might be interesting. Or a splash of wine vinegar and a touch of sugar.

Anything vinegary will work. It's that acidity that your looking for. But I vote for the basalmic. I used some cider vinegar in a similar problem and it was a little strong.
