Dumbledore cliches

Livejournal is seriously pissing me off. It keeps making my entries date as Sept 29, 2006 at 11:34 pm. I've gone back to change the dates, of course, but Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

That and it keeps refreshing my friends page to one from about a week ago. THat one I've at least found a way around.

Of course, not sure I should be blaming LJ or my lameass computer. Most likely the fault lies with my computer.

Stupid computer!

But the real reason for this post is to ask about the cliches that abound for our dear departed Headmaster in the fandom. We all know about the handing out of, and obsession with, sweets, his meddlesome ways that tend toward matchmaking and the ever present twinkle in his probing blue eyes. What else is there, though? Surely his character deserves more than three pervasive cliches?

Any ideas, thought or suggestions?

He's used to play matchmaker quite a lot. That one pisses me off.

I've had a plot bunny in my head for aaaaaages about how his nose got broken. Or rather, two sentences, which I can't find an appropriate story to set into.

I must say that my big story uses that cliche but, since it's supposed to be a parody, I felt within my rights to misuse his character so aggregiously. :D At least I knew it was bad when I did it!

Oooh! Could they just stand on their own? (I want to say, "Do tell!" but I fear that would be rude...)

Well, it was spawned from a mention somewhere in one of the books--truly can't remember where--that Dumbledore's nose has been broken at least once. My mental Dumbledore immediately popped up with "Seventeen times, actually; I keep tripping over this bedratted beard..."
