Livejournal is seriously pissing me off. It keeps making my entries date as Sept 29, 2006 at 11:34 pm. I've gone back to change the dates, of course, but Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

That and it keeps refreshing my friends page to one from about a week ago. THat one I've at least found a way around.

Of course, not sure I should be blaming LJ or my lameass computer. Most likely the fault lies with my computer.

Stupid computer!

But the real reason for this post is to ask about the cliches that abound for our dear departed Headmaster in the fandom. We all know about the handing out of, and obsession with, sweets, his meddlesome ways that tend toward matchmaking and the ever present twinkle in his probing blue eyes. What else is there, though? Surely his character deserves more than three pervasive cliches?

Any ideas, thought or suggestions?

Personally, I keep finding that LJ keeps timing out on me. Either my comments or posts don't post or they end up double-posting. Rather frustrating.

Anyhow, as far as Dumbledore is concered, you've covered the major cliches. There is also his omnipresence, and his sock fetish fascination.

Hmmmm... trying to think what else...

That's obnoxious. *offers tea for LJ bitch session*

Oh! The sock fetish obsession! I forgot! And his omnipresense is another important cliche not to disregard.

Thanks!

I think thats it...unless you count the obsession with inviting everyone for tea...and very nearly everyone trying to avoid those invitations. :)

Ah yes, the ubiquitous social invites. They're especially prevalent in Snape fics, aren't they? And of course everyone would want to avoid having tea and talk with the worlds most powerful/interesting wizard! It makes perfect sense.

Don't forget the 'Dumbles is evil, and manipulative' fics. You know the ones where dear, sweet, innocent Harry is somehow related to Merlin, and all four Hogwarts founders...mostly on Lily's side of the family. ;)

He's used to play matchmaker quite a lot. That one pisses me off.

I've had a plot bunny in my head for aaaaaages about how his nose got broken. Or rather, two sentences, which I can't find an appropriate story to set into.

I must say that my big story uses that cliche but, since it's supposed to be a parody, I felt within my rights to misuse his character so aggregiously. :D At least I knew it was bad when I did it!

Oooh! Could they just stand on their own? (I want to say, "Do tell!" but I fear that would be rude...)

Well, it was spawned from a mention somewhere in one of the books--truly can't remember where--that Dumbledore's nose has been broken at least once. My mental Dumbledore immediately popped up with "Seventeen times, actually; I keep tripping over this bedratted beard..."
