Now if only I could actually climb the walls...

So, Sunday night, Page and I made up a schedule for us to abide by during the summer, seeing as he's far more pliable when there is some sort of structure. Well... I slept through yesterday, so the only thing we got done was dinner and the after-dinner bike ride (and shower), but that was really nice. It's amazing how much he's improved, responsibility-wise, in the last year. Riding with him on the road was a pleasure, not a headache!

Today we've been a little more adherent to the schedule, although not to any strict standard. But he's spent time drawing (Arts and Crafts), we've been to the library, and I'm about to make lunch. I have a feeling that math-time might be a difficult sell, as engrossed as he is in his Lego version of Plants vs. Zombies, but it's possible. We'll see. (Honestly, I don't care too much one way or another, as long as there's a little variation to the sound effects, including some silence!.)

I feel like I should post good things to make up for my whine yesterday. So here goes:

- Geoff should be back in about an hour. That'll be good (except, of course, that he'll be a total zombie).

- Gardens. Not only mine, but all the gardens I've been seeing around the neighborhood and town. The allium has gone to seed, and I've gotta say I'm tempted to plant some just for the seed heads. They are so cool! But the roses are out in full bloom all over the place, and they are so very pretty. Makes me want to plant some. Even though I'm really allergic. (Didn't stop me with the lavender.) Oh, and my lavender is SOOOO pretty this year! The front bunch perhaps is a little too top heavy, but all of it is blooming in beautiful purple mounds! So, so gorgeous! The library's garden is getting to a particularly pretty stage, as well, what with the roses, petunias and Russian sage.

- Being easily pleased. I was groggy and bleh this morning, but while Page was busy with his Legos, I went out and weeded for an hour. I still find it astonishing how happy it makes me to weed in the shade (in the sun, not so much). But I was damn near chirping after only fifteen minutes on my knees. And, happily, the garden does look better already for the miniscule portion that was weeded.

- Deviled eggs. Page likes them, too! And, perhaps a better thing is that Page's taste buds have evolved a bit more, and he now likes spicy brown mustard! He certainly didn't object to the spiciness of the deviled eggs I made yesterday, despite having put in mustard powder and garlic and other yumminesses.

- Libraries. ('nuff said)
