Random Friday post #3
I want to do our taxes. I really want to do our taxes. When the taxes are done, I can get a better understanding of our financial position, which will tell me when we can really go car shopping.
But I can't do the taxes. Not all of the forms have arrived. And seeing as one of the missing forms is vitally important (school financials), I really can't do the taxes yet.
Grr.
Ach well. We still have at least three more cars to test drive, so I suppose there's no rush. Except that February is car inspection/registration month, and I'd really rather not re-register the car if I don't have to. *iz miserly*
In other news, I think I might enjoy biology. The lab portion is still on the iffy side, seeing as bleach is used to clean everything, and I'm allergic/damned sensitive to chlorine (the hour and a half we spent in the lab on Wednesday left me with a bit of a headache, even though no bleach was used during class, and probably wasn't used in the previous class, either), but the class content is pretty cool.
The professor, however, needs a serious confidence boost. He knows his stuff but spends the first hour of every lecture dithering on about "cool" things in a rather painful way. When he's on topic, however, he's good. Really quite engaging and clear. Although, I think that with the engagement factor it helps that a majority of the class is actually interested in biology...
Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting more depth on the stuff that was introduced in the first chapter. I'm excited to be learning this stuff, even though I'm rather ashamed that I've left it so long. (This is my first biology class since jr. high (7th grade - age 12), most of which I missed due to poor health. I dropped out of high school biology in the first quarter of 10th grade for similar reasons (plus the teacher was... uninspiring). So I'm really starting from scratch, here. Hence the shame.
-Watch George C. Scott's "A Christmas Carol" (as I've never seen it and I have it checked out from the library.)
- return movies; get new ones? Preferably TV shows
-test drive
- food shopping: veggies and meat. And eggs. Always need eggs.
- cleaning? (recycle list from last week)
- cooking (Sunday preferably. I think (mild) curry is necessary this week. I'm craving Indian food.) (stew, muffins, beef burgers)
- Homework:
---Bio - read chapter 2;do online homework assignments for chapter 1 (avg'd score of 93.5%)
---Acct. - read ch. 10;take (better) notes on ch. 6
- read some of my history book?
-pinch back plants
- soak myself
-make date with M&M for museums in future weeks
I'm getting antsy to do something creative, as well. Might break out the sketchbook, as there really isn't time for any painting. Also, sketching can be done while listening to the boob tube, whereas painting can't really. Speaking of, know of any good links to whole(ish) episodes of QI? Also, is it possible to listen to the first seasons of "Cabin Pressure" without buying them? (If so, please PM me the linksies?)
Hmmm... Might have to introduce Page to "Jeeves and Wooster." It's silly enough that he might get it. And his horizons need some serious expansion... However it might be a bit early for it yet. Unfortunately, it's definitely too early to introduce him to Blackadder...
Anything else? Not really. Well, not that I can share without linking to facebook sites (cuz I'm WAY too lazy to look them up individually on the internet). Suffice to say that there's some good stuff out there. Might I suggest "I fucking love science" and "Old Moss Woman's Secret Garden" on fb, xkcd (just generally, though I find I must recommend this specific one), and ICHC.
Right. Getting close to pick-up time, so I'd... better finish my computering. ;-)
