Someone has a grudge against northern cardinals. And great suggestions for state birds to replace them.

A thunderstorm is in its infant stages of brewing here, meaning it's horribly humid and feels unreasonably hot (even though it's only 73F). I had hoped to get three things checked off the garden to do list today, but the first task wore me out, so that's that. At least I finished that task.

My body kind of sort of hates humidity with a steaming passion.

I also think I did get Page's GI bug and am now actually suffering from it (to a very minor degree). So it might not be just the humidity.

Speaking of Page, the boy had a meltdown this morning. Poor boy had to deal with me having a bit of a meltdown in response to his meltdown, too. I suspect his day improved dramatically as soon as he got to school (very late), though at least we parted as friends.

I hate simplifying radicals. Or rather, having to express a term in simplified radicals. The square root of 64 is 8, dammit, not 8(sqrt)1. (Though, of course, it is also, technically, 8(sqrt)1.) I forgot how much I dislike it, even though I've pretty much got the hang of it now.

I had my last pot of tea this morning. I hope to stay away from the stuff for a good long while now. We'll see how productive I am without that boost, however. :-/

On the other hand, I have at least three servings of baby kale in the last remaining planter box, so at least I have something with which to replace the tea (smoothies, that is).

Aaaaaaand, yeah. I think I'm going to go nap now.

I died laughing at that article and totally agree that IL's state bird should be the prairie chicken. I send sincere sympathies for simmering GI unpleasantness, grouchy offspring, and math, and happy napping!

*laughs* Living in England, my first thought when I read "northern cardinal" is this: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/may/18/cardinal-obrien-still-danger-say-accusers
