Mr. Sensitivity

Right. Something annoyed me yesterday (I wrote this last night, but the computer died before I could post it), and I wrote this in response. The only thing you need to know is that this scene has nothing to do with the original offense. I.e. no husbands were harmed (or blamed) in the making of this.

Warning: Ron/Hermione pairing, with canon!Ron, rather than the Ron I like to envision.

“You’re so cute,” Ron said, smiling at her with a soppy grin before rolling off of her.

Hermione lay there, paralyzed with bewilderment.

He’d just called her cute?

She felt her fist clench, and got up off the bed before she had a chance to use it on the oaf.

“Hermione?” Ron asked, obviously confused.

Hermione stormed around the room, collecting her clothes while biting her tongue.

“What’s wrong?” he asked. “I thought you got yours, too.”

Hermione stopped where she was and took a deep breath before facing him, eyes flashing.

“The sex was fantastic, Ronald. Just bloody great. But… but then…” She decided biting her tongue was the better option, and resumed dressing, angrily.

“But what?” he whined. “Hermione, don’t be like this!”

Hermione pulled her shirt on roughly, and then faced him again. “But then you went and said I was cute.”

Ron’s brows knitted. “Um, but that’s good, isn’t it?”

She gaped at him. “Cute, Ronald, cute. It’s the equivalent of telling a girl that she’s got a great personality!”

Ron looked at her warily. “But, you do have a great personality.”

“AAAARRRGH!” Hermione tossed her arms up in the air as she screamed, then took another deep breath before facing Ron again.

“Ronald, I love you, but I can’t take you anymore. You complain that I make you feel dumb, and you make me feel like I’m ugly. Maybe we should just call it quits now to save ourselves the pain that’s coming.”

Ron sat there, gaping at her before a figurative light bulb turned on somewhere in his head. “Oh, it’s that time of the month, isn’t it?”

Hermione opened her mouth to scream at him again, but then shut it, deciding he wasn’t worth her energy.

“Goodbye, Ron.”

She stormed out of the bedroom, slamming the door behind her.
