I agree with some friends that #19 totally happened.

Oh, and...

I've been tinkering with the idea of writing a Hermione/Kingsley alternative to She Married Her Choice...

*goes back to homework*

Brain wave! (No idea if it's a new thought or not, but it's new to me.)

What if Mr. Borgin, of Borgin and Burkes, was one of Dumbledore's spies? Talk about perfectly placed! Not to mention that would give Dumbles a very good idea of everything that was going on in HBP...

Just sayin.

(How about using Borgin as a wartime go-between after Dumbles' death?)

Re-watched GoF today. Lord, is it bad! It reminded me quite a lot of "Lair of the White Worm" - you know, that early, early Hugh Grant movie? Only GoF wasn't quite as funny. Lord, Emma Watson did a bad job! But then, she was in good company. Gambon was atrocious (YELLING!Dumbledore! Manhandling!Dumbledore! Pacing!Dumbledore!), Rickman played Snape as a caricature, and Fiennes was... well, unsubtle.

Granted, I should blame all of that on the director's shoulders. Well, director and writer's shoulders. Mike Newell and Steve Cloves, I shake my head at you. Very severely.

Right. Off to read a Superman comic of Geoff's (by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons) and then continue on with HBP. Though all that might get postponed if Page agrees to watch either Harvey or Tin Tin with us after dinner.

Oh yeah. Dinner. Better get started on that.

Ciao!

It continually astonishes me how much we eat. I made 14 burgers out of 3 lbs of meat on Sunday (cut with another pound of carrot/mushroom mix), and how many are left today? Three. And we did that in only two and a half meals (lunch for the three of us on Sunday, dinner last night, and Page's lunch yesterday). *shakes head* This is why I don't buy organic beef...

*

Fall is getting closer. Not only did Geoff suggest adding a full size blanket to the bed last night (I've been using a light, long, baby blanket that covers just me), but the coconut oil was solid this morning. Yay!

*

I'm allergic to something. I'm assuming it's something I've consumed, as there's an itchy lump on my hard pallet. I'm hoping it's the muffins, not the tea. It's cold, I'm drowsy from the benedryl I took last night, and I WANT MY TEA.

*

I have two bug bites in a very inconvenient area. They itch, and it's really not an area that is polite to scratch. Just as well, I suppose. *sigh* *wriggles*

*

Geoff and I watched Thor last night. It wasn't at all what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I think next up is Cpt. America.

*

Almost finished with re-reading GoF. Snape is so completely horrid in this book. Really petty and vicious. Meanwhile, I've rediscovered canon Harry, who is a delight. *sigh* That won't last long, now.

*

Life is pretty good, really. *nods*

Is Rita Skeeter a psychopath?

Well, it was a good summer vacation, but school starts in, ah, four hours and I still need to read the first chapter of the texts. Oops.

Oh, and I now so completely sympathize with my parents' policy of NO WHINING ALLOWED. I still think it was destructive, but boy do I sympathize.

Also, I still love Prisoner of Azkaban, the book. (Haven't re-watched the movie recently, so can't say whether I still love that.)

And I finally saw DH 2. Loved it. Will talk about that later. After school work is done. *nods determinedly*

Ciao!

The forgetting pill.

Beyond being cool science, it made me think of how wrong JK got it (or how evilly right she wrote Dumbledore) in Harry's "treatment" for all the trauma he experienced.

Almost makes me want to write post-Hogwarts Harry fic showing how his life went down the tubes due to PTSD made worse by Dumbledore's efforts of remediation.

Almost.

Him: Mom, can you get my red box of duplos for me?
Me [getting up]: Can't you reach it?
Him: Yeah, but the snake is guarding it.
Me: *sigh* Voldemort's not going to hurt you, you know.
Him: I know, but it scares me.

Voldemort is the name Geoff gave to my pet (stuffed) snake. He was thinking of Nagini, of course, but Voldemort stuck.

Does Voldemort ever publicly proclaim his ancestry? More specifically, do his Death Eaters know he's Slytherin's heir?

Woah!

I'm on the quiz again! Twice in a row! That's... unheard of, for me.

See the shiny )

Firefox is being really, really, obnoxiously slow for me. I'm thinking of switching to chrome, seeing as updating the flash drivers and all that (and clearing the cache) hasn't helped one jot.

Any ideas or thoughts?

Short blather on good things. )

Hey, lookit! I made it onto the sshg quiz! I'm in very good company, too!

See shiny banner! )

I had been looking forward to a relaxing day of goofing off or writing today, but I have been on my toes since the alarm went off at 6:30. I am very tired now, and I still have yet to start dinner.

Fortunately, roasts are quick and easy to prepare.

Another fortunate thing is that once dinner is made (and perhaps the kitchen cleaned up a little bit?), I will be able to just sit back and relax. Which is what my doctor said I really, really, REALLY need to do.

Actually, she said "sleep," but that's just 'cause I had already noted that I was really stressed. (I've developed an eye tic, did I mention? Yeah. Since starting the trip back.)

So, come 10pm, I will go to bed. And seeing as tomorrow is Saturday, I will not set the alarm. And, you know, I think I will even let Geoff deal with Babe, should Babe wake up in the middle of the night yet again. Geoff needs his sleep, too, but he's been getting more of it than I have, and less Babe-time. It needs to even out.

And the only cooking I should need to do over the weekend is make jello and another cheesecake or two, since I intend to gobble the one I made this morning up as soon as it's cool. (Did I mention I'm stressed and tired? ;-)

Right. Enough whining. As I told the good doc, I am tired but functional (mostly), which is a vast improvement over where I've been recently. Once I do get my sleep back to decent levels, things will get even better.

Did Harry (or anyone) ever tell Hermione and Ron about Snape's near werewolf encounter? And if it isn't stated in the books, do you think he would have? (I am assuming an honorable Harry who would never have told them about any of the memories he saw in the Pensieve or during Occlumency lessons, even after Snape's death.)
averygoodun42: (Default)
What chapter did Ron walk out on them?
averygoodun42: (Hogwarts Noir)
Saw it. Will probably see it again on DVD (which, for me, is pretty high praise). It's now my second favorite HP movie, with Azkaban topping it only because Azkaban is an awesome movie. Period.

I liked:
Cut for spoilers, of course. )

I should note, however, that the theater we saw it in had a crappy sound-system. I'm assuming that the soundtrack did not wobble in and out of tune for most of you. That was rather distracting, and i might have colored my experience a bit more than it would have otherwise.

I am happy I saw it, however. =)

Right. Something annoyed me yesterday (I wrote this last night, but the computer died before I could post it), and I wrote this in response. The only thing you need to know is that this scene has nothing to do with the original offense. I.e. no husbands were harmed (or blamed) in the making of this.

Warning: Ron/Hermione pairing, with canon!Ron, rather than the Ron I like to envision.

So, I did a picture with Snape and Ginny in it. You can find it here if you're curious.

And then there's the whinging )

But now I have to go watch the last episode of Medium with Geoff. Have a good night, ya'll!

I think I cheated because I'm pretty sure this took longer than half an hour to make. But, it didn't take longer than 1.5 hours including dinner prep, eating (x2), Babe wrangling and all that fun, non-drawing stuff.

I went down to the HP_Con to meet everyone and, you know, I can remember two real names out of seven or eight people. And I can't remember their usernames. Shitshitshitshitshitshit!

If you are reading this and I haven't friended you, please friend me! I like you, I just have a terrible, terrible, terrible memory for names (and dates. And fics. And general stuff...). Honestly.

The gist of the Leaky Con meet-ups: my view )

What do you think Ginny's patronus would be? I don't think it's actually mentioned, unless JK answered some question at some point after I stopped obsessing.

Any ideas?
