HP canon question

Did Harry (or anyone) ever tell Hermione and Ron about Snape's near werewolf encounter? And if it isn't stated in the books, do you think he would have? (I am assuming an honorable Harry who would never have told them about any of the memories he saw in the Pensieve or during Occlumency lessons, even after Snape's death.)

I think that story came out in bits and pieces throughout several books, and we never learned the entirety of it. I don't think that bit about being forbidden by Dumbledore to tell anyone was ever really explained, as I recall, nor how he managed to keep Snape from telling after he left Hogwarts. Knowing that Dumbledore allowed a werewolf free run of the school would have been of interest to Voldemort, I'd have thought, and it seems like the sort of information that a new Death Eater would offer up as a gift. It would have been handy political info to have, at least. ~shrug~
