Better

Page* woke up at about 5 this morning, and immediately came to talk to me. I looked at the clock and I thought it was 6 something, so I let him rattle on, even as I dozed in and out of sleep. Next time, I will be asking him what time it is. His eyes are just fine.

But it seems the steroids are working. He did not cough during the night, and coughed only a couple times this morning.

He's also talking up a storm.

Oh. My. Lord is he talking up a storm. Way more than his normal chattiness. I pity the teachers, even though I did instruct him to twiddle his thumbs should he feel the need to talk or fidget when he needs to be listening. We'll see if that helps.

He's already getting into the swing of things, and taking an active role in his care. I even got him to help clean up his room (after I'd put an hour of picking up into it already. I had wanted to finish it before he got back from school, but my hip hurt too badly to continue) so I could sweep, dust and generally make his room a healthier place. And when I told him I was going to get strict about us cleaning his room every week, he informed me it wasn't ever going to get so messy again. (Ha.)

He was bummed that I called him in after only ten minutes of play, though. Don't blame him, but at the same time, he has to take it easy till Monday.

Meanwhile, I have figured out what's going on with my hip. I realized this morning that my body is holding true to the pattern of a flare showing in the most recently injured location. I really did sprain my butt the other week, but now it's not the muscle that's hurting. Honestly, it hurts way less than the strained muscle, but it is more persistent.

So... anti-inflammatories and sitting on the heating pad for me for the next while, till my stress levels come down a smidge (or three). Fortunately, sitting on a heating pad is rather heavenly, so it's all good. (Also, it's not accompanied by any other flare symptoms, so it should go away soon enough. Rest will be my bestest friend for the next couple weeks, though.)

(I'm really hoping this is the year of serious medical issues and next year we're all fine.)

And in between rests and such, I am making progress on the house. All but one load of laundry was finished yesterday. Page's room was cleaned fairly thoroughly. Living room cleared of the puzzle paraphernalia (card table being the biggest item) and put to rights, if not tidied or cleaned. The kitchen table was cleared enough to eat at. And today I've already got the dishwasher running. I hope to get the rest of the laundry done, sweep (and vacuum) the downstairs and maybe get the kitchen counters and bathroom sinks disinfected. But in reverse order.

I'm also going to make lots of jello (for my hip health, you know), and another batch of muffins (for my mental health) where I do not forget the salt and soda.

* For the last week, I've been reverting to calling Page "Babe" again. So far I've caught it each time before actually writing it, but the urge is strong. I'm guess even when he's "Knight", I'll be tempted, as he will always be my baby, won't he? ;-)

Wow! You've done a boat load of work!

I imagine Page will become easier to handle when he's feeling better in himself. I'm glad he's not resisting treatment, as some children do.
