Oh, and this is rich!

Apparently Christmas lights are pagan.

Um... The whole Christmas ritual as we celebrate it is pretty pagan, really. And seeing as the roots of Christmas go back to early Christians co-opting Saturnalia to get more followers... Yeah. It's pagan. So what? I'm not a JW, so I really, really don't care.

That said, it's finally starting to feel a bit more like Christmas around here. Having the (pagan) tree up with the lights aglow and the days cold helps with that feeling, I think. Too bad it's going to warm up again for Christmas... :-(

Ummm, I wonder how the letter writer would address my outdoor, lighted nativity scene. Apparently I'm conflicted about my religious beliefs. Am I paganly religious or religiously pagan?

Puritanism is alive and well in this country, or at least the vestiges of the movement that look at other people's religious behavior and pull the more-pious-than-thou routine. That makes about as much sense as the movements that protest Halloween as being un-Christian.

The tree really does help with the holiday cheer, doesn't it? I grin every time I plug ours in!
