My grampa broke his hip. He went into surgery last night, and my dad said the doctors are "cautiously optimistic," but he's a month short of 95... and he's been failing lately... I haven't heard anything, though, so I'll assume the best.

I'm surprised how much this is affecting me, though. We've never been close, geographically or emotionally, but... he's always been there, you know? Always.

He's the last grandparent I have. The only one I've known.

Oh, hon, I'm sorry. I know it's scary. I really hope that everything will be alright.

Your feelings are completely understandable. *Huge Hugs*

Thoughts and prayers for you and your grandpa.

Thank you.

He had the surgery and everything went well, so hopefully he'll make it to his birthday, anyway.

Awww... I hope he pulls through and shocks us all by recovering amazingly fast!

*hugs you* *offers shoulder & ear if needed*

Thank you. I wouldn't be surprised if he did, especially as he made it through the surgery just fine. You have to kill that side of my family off if we don't want to die. Usually it takes something extreme... like a tree falling on us, or a train going full speed (moderate speed trucks won't do it... my Aunty Rose survived till she was 88, even though she was hit by a truck when she was a teenager). Whirlpools also work. Anything physics related, basically.

Um... yeah. TMI, right?

Aw, I just told that anecdote about Big G fixing his scooter and everyone in the town being upset to my mother yesterday. My thoughts are with you.

Thanks. He pulled through thesurgery just fine, and Ihaven't heard anything else, so I'll assume he'sdoing well. No news is good news, after all.

Our family really doesn't die in these types of circumstances, though. We get killed off or die of stroke/heart attack from old age.

Erk. That made me think of his blood clot that nearly killed him a few years ago. He's a tough nut, he really is.
