My grampa broke his hip. He went into surgery last night, and my dad said the doctors are "cautiously optimistic," but he's a month short of 95... and he's been failing lately... I haven't heard anything, though, so I'll assume the best.
I'm surprised how much this is affecting me, though. We've never been close, geographically or emotionally, but... he's always been there, you know? Always.
He's the last grandparent I have. The only one I've known.

Our family really doesn't die in these types of circumstances, though. We get killed off or die of stroke/heart attack from old age.
Erk. That made me think of his blood clot that nearly killed him a few years ago. He's a tough nut, he really is.
