*raspberry*

Judging by my exhaustion and ache levels the last couple days, I either broke myself on Friday by screwing the final planter box together and putting the small, nearby pile of dirt back in (the least amount of work I've done on that project within a day so far), or I'm sick. Judging by Geoff's congestion, I'm guessing I'm sick, though with different symptoms. Perfect timing, too, as school starts on Tuesday.

Ah well. Better a bug than a flare. And hopefully the flu/cold brew, naps and lots of doing nothing will help enough so that I'll be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed on Tuesday.

In the meantime, I've got the house to myself today, because I am definitely not feeling up to going out role-playing/socializing. The fact that the role-playing/socializing takes place at a cat-infested house did influence my decision... Even if one of the cats is still up a tree... (Hopefully it's come down by now, poor thing.) :-/

Both my textbooks have arrived, plus some. I've already read halfway through Terry Wahl's book (all of the plain text bit. I'm leaving the appendices for another day). It's definitely geared towards the lay-person; the argument for her diet is presented clearly, scientifically (with actual research) and persuasively. I liked her theories on why some studies on the efficacy of such and such contradict each other having to do more with epigenetics rather than flawed studies/conclusions. I also like her continual caution that what worked best for her will not necessarily work best for everyone because we are all unique. Though that has more to do with the details rather than the main thrust of her argument, which is get healthy by eating correctly.

I did not like the poor copy-editing. Ach well.

I don't feel like I can afford to eat her diet as prescribed (grass-fed meat is EXPENSIVE), but I will be making more of an effort to make my family eat a ton more veggies and bone-broth than we have been. And I'll make more of an effort, next spring, to make my own veggies grow (besides kale, which is lovely in its weediness) so we can eat more organic food. Maybe. Well, maybe kale and beets... Both of those are expensive to buy organically, and they are soooo easy to grow...

Anyhoo. I'm gong to go rest some more now that I've finished my cup of brew. Hopefully that will lead to more napping, which in turn might lead to less aching. (I'm eschewing the pain pills today, unfortunately, because I want my immune system in fighting form.)

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.

Poo to colds. I've got this cough/sneeze that's been hanging on for AGES.

Growing vegetables is brilliant. I'm extending the vegetable patch this autumn, before putting it under carpet or plastic to kill weeds, and then in the spring I will dig in loads of manure and compost. I'll be planning the planting early, too.

Oh, and I detest poor copy-editing. There's no excuse for it.
