I think I heard about this book and how different personal ads are in the UK vs. the US. Here we're always trying to make ourselves sound like Olympians.
I'm cleaning out my journal and found the following joke ad in response to the trauma of being Rosebud's maid of honor:
One independent, un-dowered, female (slightly used) available for short or long term flame with someone who can provide great uncomplicated sex, intellectual stimulation, and emotional intimacy. Married men and boys under the age of 21 need not apply.
That still pretty much sums it up, though I might change the age range to 25. One of the things I've found really irritating about younger men is that they're always talking about what they're going to do, but have very little sense of themselves in the present.
