So, my mum reminded me that I never shared the final results of the mural of doom. Oops. My bad. So I thought I'd share that and this week's project that I finished today.

Piccies )

I'm hoping that with six weeks off till next semester, I'll be able to complete six paintings/projects by then. We'll see, however, as Christmas is coming and the house is a mess, so that gets priority this week.

However, I do need to get a lot more work done as I signed up to show at the church sometime next spring! And I'd rather not have repeats... Besides which, I need to build up my inventory again!

Right. Now off to bed. Hopefully that will chase off this cold that's trying to move in.

So, I lied. I took a whopping ten photos at Aeternitas. However, seeing as most are blurry, I think I'm justified in the exaggeration. ;-)

Seeing as I haven't seen a shot of Lariope in her Umbridge outfit (although she is entirely too pretty to make it convincing), I thought I'd share what I do have.

And then there are the doodles and drawings I did at the con. The first two I did during the last fifteen minutes of class ("Animagic - Conjuring cartoons of the Harry Potter Universe")

Look at me purdy drawrings )

So, if I only had to rely on my pictures of the con, it wouldn't look like much, would it? But fortunately, others have some great pictures to make up for my photographic laziness. (Because, really, I hid as much as possible when the cameras were out, and didn't want to force on others what I wasn't willing to take myself. With an exception or two (sorry). Also? I'm a crap photographer unless people are posing and have infinite patience for my sloooooow camera.)

I'm not completely satisfied with this, so I may tweak it a bit in the near future. Just so's you know.

And it's more silly than "tender", though it is rather simple and is definitely SS/HG.

Hope you like.

Heya, oh wonderful flist, I was wondering if you could help me out.

I signed up to show my art at the Church in December. I think it's December, anyway. Maybe it's November. Whichever month it is, I currently do not have enough new art to show, even counting in some photographs I could print out. Sooooo...

I need to do some drawings, but I can't think of anything to draw (painting is another thing all together and needs no prompting at this point).

So, would you please prompt me? Doesn't need to be rational or feasible, though nothing in fandom, please. This is potentially for my portfolio.

I promise to show you what I do with the prompts.

Thanks in advance!

Would you wear this down (or medium-loft insulation) coat?

Or am I the only one? (sketchy sketch sketch) )

Of course, if I could get this coat made with warm enough grade thinsulate without ruining the drape, I think it would be worth the tailor fees.

Of course, I'd have to invest in really warm, fashionable (and winterproof) boots to go along with it. My current hiking boots would not go... Not even if the coat were brown.

Oh, and I've revamped the Art Project of Doom. I almost like it now. I'll photograph it tomorrow when the light is good and the glue is dry. And I decide whether I'm just looking at it with hopeful eyes...

It's just beginning to get dark outside (and oh, how nice that it's only beginning to get dark! I love the lengthening evenings!) and I'm overcome with a fit of the bores.

(Of course, as I write this, I can think of all the things I need to do... Laundry to be washed, laundry to be folded, laundry to be put away. I already collected all the laundry, so at least that's off my plate.)

However, I also kind of want to draw some more. Yesterday's drawing wasn't very good, but I am satisfied with today's, though one of them needs to be finished. Snape needs his face.

Speaking of that, though, I wonder if anyone would be willing to look over my story "Curious Granger and the Half-Blood Prince" with a critical eye. I've posted the (slightly) revised edition under the cut for your ease. I'm going to start inking these drawings soon, and would prefer not to have to re-do any of them because of story failure. Inking is a pain in the butt.

Just, if you do critique, please keep in mind that it IS written in the style of the Curious George stories, and therefore does use simplistic language and storytelling in a deliberate manner. (Oh, and yes, I am aware that it isn't quite canon-compliant because Harry had Hermione's wand... Oh well.)

The place I'm most concerned about is the ending. It seems a bit abrupt to me, even within this style.

Anyway. Thanks in advance!

I have come across a problem relating to my second resolution (painting/arting every day): I get embroiled.

Today I spent at least four hours drawing. In theory that is fantastic, but in practice, nothing else got done!

Of course, one of the reasons I spent that much time drawing is because the project I'm working on (illustrating my story "Curious Granger and the Half Blood Prince")is pretty massive (much bigger than I'd intended or imagined). I only got about a fifth done with the drawing part, and then I need to color it which will take twice as long...

And there will be absolutely no profit made from it - except for reviews (I hope).

*sighs*

I should be working on things that will bring income to this house if I'm going to work on art to the exclusion of every other duty.

Ach well. Perhaps I will be able to put it into my portfolio anyway, even if it is almost blatant plagiarizing... ("'In the style of'!" I remind myself. "'In the style of'!")

So, I did a picture with Snape and Ginny in it. You can find it here if you're curious.

And then there's the whinging )

But now I have to go watch the last episode of Medium with Geoff. Have a good night, ya'll!

Two awesome, kickass characters who happen to be the hero's backs.

I think I cheated because I'm pretty sure this took longer than half an hour to make. But, it didn't take longer than 1.5 hours including dinner prep, eating (x2), Babe wrangling and all that fun, non-drawing stuff.

Just proof that I am never, ever satisfied with my work.

By the way, her prompt was to illustrate the poem "Sweet Afton" by Robert Burns

I am not exactly thrilled with this, but, well, working on it beat being bored, but even so, I think I've run out of steam on this particular drawing.

Done with graphite on white sketch paper, then I mucked about in photoshop quite a bit.

A different Hermione from my usual one. And I still cannot draw a 'pretty' Snape. Nope. Not going to happen. )

It's now also up at my deviant page. http://averygoodun.deviantart.com/art/Domesticity-118604146

I'm not thrilled with this one. I really think it ought to be an ink drawing, but I have as much mastery of that medium as I do at watercolor, i.e. none. Also, I hate doing backgrounds. And it shows.

This also shows how poor my drawing technique has become. :-/

But, as a sketch, it's not bad. I suppose. (It does look better in person. I wish I had a scanner, as it might come out better scanned rather than photographed.)

Anyway...

Sweet Afton )

I worked on it a bit more, just darkening some bits here and there, and changed the composition a bit (the one above is mightily cropped) and came up with what I think is a better version.

Sweet Afton, take 2 )

And one where I messed with the level a bit more:

Prompt me!

Okay, y'all, I am completely and totally bored out of my skull. I have very few words rattling around my brain, but I want to do something so (I am not healthy yet, so I haven't the strength to resist ellipses)...

Prompt me!

Give me something to draw. It can be anything. ANYTHING. A thought, an emotion, a scene, a description, a person... anything goes. I will post as soon as I am moderately happy with it.

Pleeeeease?

It's been a long, long time since I've attempted a self-portrait. Granted, tonight's attempt is not exactly a stellar or 'serious' attempt, but... gah. I need to get back into practice with portraits.

I think I like trees better. They don't complain when they're drawn bent out of shape.

:D

Here's a gift for ya'll. Or at least a gift for ya'll who like SS/HG.

Because I can't leave well enough alone, I cleaned the pic up a little more, and did some finishing work. Still more or less a monochrome, though.
