I went to see OotP today. I was... underwhelmed. I'm glad to see Radcliff's acting abilities improving, I was very, very, very sorry to see everyone else's performances suffering. Even Rickman was... well, during a couple of his scenes I flashed onto his Galaxy Quest character. Not good, folks, not good. (The flashes, not Galaxy Quest. I loved that movie.)
I was also underwhelmed by the general progression of the storyline. It clunked from plot point to plot point and occasionally screeched while it did so. As a movie, it sucked. As a representation of the book, it was okay, but still was pretty crappy. The only bright spot for me was Neville who actually got some character development going with a decent performance to boot. Oh, and the Phelp twins as eye candy.
So, overall, it's now my second favorite movie of the bunch with Azkaban in the lead by a furlong. Although, I might put Goblet in second when I see it again if it amuses me as much as I think it will. I enjoy camp quite a bit.
Overall, I wish we'd gone to see Ratetuille instead. Ah well. That's what videos are for.
