You know it's a slow winter when...
Feb. 17th, 2010 12:31 am6.5" of snow gets headlines and major airtime in the nightly news.
*shakes head*
It was a snow day today, too. I was going to make a post around 3:00 about how cute the weather was being, trying to pretend it was winter and all, because, yeah, it was a pathetic attempt at real snow. An hour later, there were a few inches on the ground, so obviously it picked up. But also, obviously, AFTER the school day was done.
Not that it affected me, mind. I just think New England media is way lame when it comes to dealing with winter.
"OMG! IT'S THE SNOWPOCOLYPSE!!! THE END IS NIGH!!! KEEP YOUR FAMILY CLOSE; IT'S THE SECOND COMING!!!!11!!!!!1! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!"
...
Next day: "ooops. nevermind."
I mean, seriously. This is New England, dudes! It's the Mecca of Winter (discounting the Midwest, as that's just brutal, not picturesque) (or Alaska, for the same reason plus Palin)!
That said, I'm pleased with what snow we got. It's not winter out here unless there is snow, and we just haven't been getting any this year. That lousy jetstream's been taking a mighty detour this year thanks to El Nino. Oh well.
I'll take pictures on my walk through the park tomorrow morning. :-)
Oh, and my exchange piece? I think it's going to rock. I could be wrong, but, well, yeah. I'm happy with where it's going.
