Good things
Nov. 28th, 2011 03:40 pm- The first good thing is that the largest frustration I have right now is a class project that just Will. Not. Get. Done. I haven't heard hide nor hair of B since Wednesday, and she wasn't in class again today. I unfortunately lost the list of telephone numbers for the group, so I can't call to find out if she's okay or not, either. So overall, I'm really quite frustrated about this, but, in the scheme of things, this is a pretty minor thing to have as my biggest frustration.
- Thanksgiving was good. As was the weekend. Page was AWESOME, and only had turkey and brussel sprouts for T-Day dinner (though he was tempted by the marshmallow yams). He did get a bit of sodapop, but overall, he was so good! I am an immensely proud momma at the moment.
The weekend was much better than T-Day itself, as we all just took it easy. Geoff and I managed to watch The Sound of Music, Moon and the first three episodes of fifth season Dr. Who. All were enjoyed. And the rest we got was really needed (though a bit more sleep would have been fabulous...).
- Along with the weekend rest, I also got a phone call from a long-distance friend! That was wonderful, even if I continue to lack sufficient conversation skills to do my fair share. ;-) But the best bit was the feeling of continued connection on many levels.
- Whipping cream yogurt. I made some so as to make frosting to go with the carrot cake which will be dessert for our private Thanksgiving Dinner Feast (coming up either tomorrow or Wednesday). Unlike every other batch of yogurt I've made, I actually put this one on to drain off the whey, and the result is OMG!ThickCreamyGoodness! And now I have enough whey to make lots of lacto-fermented veggies! (Ginger-carrot pickles, I'm looking at you!)
- I was overpaid for the pies I made. And I mean seriously overpaid. I will be returning some of it, I was so overpaid. However, what I am not returning has paid for a new mattress pad, which should be a continued joy for many years, if only for the lack of frustration of dealing with our ratty old one forever more.
- I got 100% on my term paper. Whee! Plus nice comments!
ETA: Ooh! Very nice comments! ( Awesomesauce! ) ~preens~ /ETA
- The future is looking... bright, I think. I look around and see the growing discord in the world (and the discord is growing really rapidly now), and find myself feeling hopeful rather than scared. Hopeful and grateful for what peace and comfort we do have. Plus I feel, and have felt since the beginning of the semester, that I am on a good path now, and possibly even the right path. Not only am I taking charge of my life on (more or less) my terms, but I'm thriving doing so. I am alive, for the first time in years. And it's marvelous.
