Boxing Day...
Dec. 27th, 2008 02:30 pmwas good. Even though I was as sick as a dog. Really, I haven't been so sick to my stomach, so badly, ever. Even morning sickness couldn't compare, because then (and I know I was really lucky to have it so mildly) I just had extreme aversions to certain foods with none of the purging. I normally have an iron stomach and have had all my life.
So yeah. That's why I was in a foul mood by the end of Christmas Day. Something in (or, perhaps, all of) Christmas dinner didn't agree with me, I was getting sick and therefore everything was blown way out of proportion.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't a bug, and it certainly wasn't food poisoning because Geoff and Babe had the same foods as I did and are none the worse for wear. I think my innards just decided it was time to revolt and chose the most inconvenient time to do so. As is a body's wont.
But, since it was on the morning of the party that I woke up feeling ill, I couldn't exactly cancel. So, Geoff took care of all the preparations and at about one o'clock, people started coming over; we had guests in the house till 10:30. It would have been way more fun had I actually been feeling well, but as it was, it was lovely to celebrate the day with friends.
One of the highlights of the party was when
cck_brit came over with her family. They are all adorable in the best sense possible. I'm very much looking forward to getting together again, with or without husbands in tow! And I just hope she wasn't appalled by my horrid hosting (oh, but I didn't touch any of the food, btw, so if it was a bug, I'm sure you're safe). ;-)
And now, today, I get to rest. I'm finally able to keep food down, so I'm happily eating what sounds good. Unfortunately, that does not include any of the many and various treats that are still around the house. (Some of which I forgot to put out for the party. Oops.) Chicken soup and crackers and cream of wheat and other mild, non-acidic foods are the order of the day. The clementines can go bad for all I care at this point. As can the chocolate. *gasp*
I'm sure the natural order of the Universe will be restored by Monday, Tuesday at the latest, though. ;-)
Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the presents, material or spiritual, you received and, well, it's only a few more days till the new year. Hang in there!
Cheers.

Date: 2008-12-27 08:30 pm (UTC)All things considered, it was relatively mild, and I was only wiped out by the cumulated lack of sleep.
On the other side, a good time was had by all of the 16 people stuffed in my parents' house.
