averygoodun42Who else out there is rooting for the Cardinals? It still surprises me that they are not only in the play-offs, but are now only one game away from the Superbowl. Of course, it also surprises me that the Broncos fired Mike Shanahan and that the Lions went 0-16. Poor, poor Lions. Like Detroit doesn't have enough to worry about nowadays.
I am still not, nor ever will be, a fan of the game - of any sport, actually - but it has become an interest of mine in the past couple of years because Geoff is into football. It's nice to be able to tell him that I've been thinking of him by relaying some pertinent news or silly tidbit. It's just too bad my observational skills are rather good and my mouth a bit too big... I told him how I'd observed that the Broncos (his team) always seemed to win when he didn't watch or listen or pay any attention to the game at all.
Yes, it's superstitious, but that's part of the sports world. And it was true. Every single time Geoff checked in on the how the game was progressing this last season, the other team would score. If the game was actually on tv and Geoff watched, they would lose spectacularly. Talk about a test of fanatacism... give up watching or paying attention to what you obsess about for the sake of your obsession.
Or else I really am a reincarnation of a minor sports god and I'm just being passive aggressive about his devotion to the Broncos.

Nah. Although my home teams have done well at the time of residence... And the Broncos now have a a former Patriot as head coach...
Nah.
So anyway, I'm rooting for the Cardinals to win the Superbowl. It wouldn't be the first time the underdogs won. And, boy, are they underdogs.
