This is what we spent the day (weekend) doing instead of preparing for the trip. But look! Doesn't it almost resemble something like a patio now? Instead of a rubble heap?

Geoff did all the leveling in the main area while I worked my tush off making the area for the tool closet all level and stuff. Considering it's a small area, it took a heck of a lot of effort! Especially as the area had already been "prepped" for the closet by heaping rocks there into a level mound. Compacted rocks are not easy shoveling.
Anyway, I got that all level and shored up and purdy while Geoff figured out where the top of the patio should be and started leveling from there. At some point after we get back from our trip, we will have to buy lots of sand to fill up and truly level it (not to mention first finish framing it and then laying the pavers), but as it stands, I am very pleased with our accomplishments. It now looks more like a patio than a trash heap. Yay!
And now to bed. I'm exhausted and we have a long trip ahead of us tomorrow. Must remember battery charger, though. :-)
