On the plus side, because I am awake I got to read
severely_lupine's answer to my prompt requesting some fic with Hermione and Methos: "Of Cows and Hummingbirds" (<-------- great title!) Wheee! It's fun, though it ends on a horrible cliffy note.
Bad side? I am awake because I itch. Now, I shouldn't be itching. I took two benadryl right before bed (the second after I noticed hives developing on my cheek) around 11. Combined with the benadryl cream (supposedly a no-no to combine the two, btw), it helped relieve the itch enough to get to sleep.
I woke up an hour ago whimpering and scratching my bloody legs. (<-- Not quite figurative .) I took two more benadryl and slathered on more benadryl cream. But so far it's only reduced the itch enough so that I am not writhing, or even twitching much, anymore. And it seems I'm having a paradoxical side-effect or something seeing as I am wide awake.
I forget, you know, why I sometimes torture myself with cleansing diets and a general air of deprivation. I forget that when I don't, when I indulge in things I know my body doesn't like, I pay for it. Even moderate consumption weakens me enough to freak out my immune system, and this weekend's consumption was not exactly moderate.
But at the same time, this weekend was fun. Until the scratching overwhelmed everything, that is. Is it possible to have fun while feeling deprived? I think that's an oxymoron.
Ah well. The itching is going down, finally, and where it flares, the ice pack is helping. Ooh, and I've finally crossed the line of needed benadryl usage so I'm getting sleepy. I think another pill or two in ten minutes and I'll be ready to sleep for a few more hours. Yay!
I hope that everyone's Monday is a good one.
