Nov. 8th, 2010 01:31 pmAs we traveled up the Cape, the skies got darker and darker. After about an hour, I saw we were close to one of the many lighthouses on the Cape, so I suggested we take advantage of the lack of rain and stop.
Turned out it was a good choice.

The thing that struck me most forcibly was how much the vegetation looked like that of the southwest. Geoff and I just kept looking around, bemused by the similarity.

Granted, there were differences:

And then we had something else to ooh over:

(Click till it's as big as it gets for a neat little story.)
And then we drove up to P-Town (Provincetown). Which is a bloody long drive, by the way. I would like to go back, when the weather is nice, and tour it a bit, but next time, I will definitely be taking the ferry from Boston!

That's all I got of P-Town. I was driving at that point, and Geoff was getting grumpy, so... As I said, I'd like to go back and tour. But not in a car and only when the weather is nicer. It looks like a nice touristtrap town with a bit of funky attitude.
I do wish Geoff had been feeling better as the land around P-Town was gorgeous. Again, it felt very southwestern, what with all the big sand dunes and scrub brush, but without the threatening feel of the southwest. (No scorpions, for one.) One day, when I am physically up to it, I'd love to take our bikes down and explore.
