I'm feeling rather anemic today. Yesterday I think I pissed off the professor by doodling while he was talking, though that was the only way I was able to actually concentrate on listening to him talk about things I already understand. And I was listening. Had he called on me, I would have been able to say what he was talking about and explain why it was so.

However, I hope that the fact I didn't actually get up to move around at break (something I always do), but put my head down to rest might have given him a clue that I was dead beat.

It's been a busy week. Yesterday I had a dentist's appointment that went pretty well. The best cleaning I've had in ages. They did the gum evaluation thingy, and my gums are probably about 300% better than they were last time (granted, last time was two weeks before I came down with the meningitis, so...). She complemented me on the cleanliness of my teeth, which was awesome, as I haven't really changed any of my hygiene habits. Just diet. Score ten for no sugar!

I do need to get another filling, however. I knew it was coming, though, as I've been able to see the decalcification for a while now. Boo. I'm putting it off for a couple months, a) to be able to afford it and b) to have it done during my break between semesters so I have time to recover if necessary, seeing as dental treatments, including cleanings, always seem to trigger something. (One of my wisdom tooth scars is acting up from the cleaning yesterday... Stupid collagen disease!)

Yesterday was busier than expected, because the dental appointment ran overtime, so I had to go immediately over to the school for Open House.

Observation or thoughts on open house:
- Page's teacher has a nose stud. The phrase "not your mother's teacher" came to mind.
- She seems on top of things, mostly. Page thinks she's the best.
- Page is so ahead of the curriculum. He read us the instructions for the "scavenger hunt" that we were supposed to read to him. The words of the month for first grade? "Big, Is, Have, Little, In, It." Yeah.
- Snacks and treats are going to be a hassle this year. One of the students in the class has a severe allergy to peanuts and tree nuts (and sunflower seeds). Which means no muffins for Page. I think I've figured out what I can send in for birthdays and such, but... Extra work is necessary. We explained the difference between a sensitivity (what he has to wheat) and an allergy to Page this morning, and why we will not be sending nuts in with him at any point any more. Especially since he sits right next to the poor girl!
- Page seems well liked by his classmates, which is really nice. Yay for not-anti-social kid!

I was so done by the time we got home from the school, and since I hadn't had time to put the chicken in the oven, Geoff and I finished off the stew and Page had a hard-boiled egg and peas. I was in bed (and probably asleep) before 9:30.

I went to choir on Wednesday for the first time in... oh, a year? It was wonderful, even though I was zonked. I don't know whether it's the improved self-confidence or the zonkitudiness, but I volunteered myself to be in a small group solo part of one song. I haven't started wibbling yet, but I'm sure that will start pretty soon.

Tuesday was another super busy day, though it will continue to be until harvesting is over. I have three hours of class, rather than just two, and it starts an hour earlier. Then I come home, do homework until Page gets home at 3, and then hustle directly off to the farm so we can get Page to karate by 5 (didn't happen this week, he went at 6). By the time bedtime comes around, I am completely fried. This week, I was fried by 8, so I spent the next hour looking over the pretty picture books my friend gave me on Monday.

I'm considering asking Geoff if he'd go to the farm every other week after work (they're open till 7, or whenever the sun sets as the season gets on) just to ease my load a bit. I am so tired, and that extra hour and a half is time and energy I'm not sure I have to spare anymore.

But we'll see how it goes next week. It could be that I'm just a little low on iron right now, and everything will perk right back up next week.

I do wish I didn't have homework this weekend. I would love to laze... But I do have homework, and I do have chores and I do have life to attend to. So I will quit stalling now and go attend to those things that do need tending. I guess. If I have to.

Oh, but before I go, I will say that the weather has definitely shifted to Fall. The pjs I'm wearing are flannel, I put on my slippers, and - this the kicker - Page opened the door and yelled, "It's COLD! Jacket! Jacket! I need a jacket!"

And truly, he was right. Yay! Now for that first frost to kill all the bugs and ragweed, and I'll be super happy!
