What with Geoff being away (he's supposed to get back late tonight), my sleeping schedule has started slipping back into its natural state. Which, really, isn't so great when I'm the one who has to get up with Page in the morning.

Anyhoo, it's been leading to utter uselessness and afternoon naps and all that stuff that would be wonderful if it weren't so boring. (The uselessness, not the naps. They're nice, though absolute time-sucks.)

Page has become really good about letting me nap when I do fall asleep, though I think two days in a row was too many, as he was really needy last night, refusing to let me go until I agreed to lie down with him.

However, he was super-duper sweet, as, when I finally got up to leave him to sleep after giving him a back rub, he gave me his White Cover (blanky) to cuddle with as an exchange for the awesome back rub. (Awwww)

I'm not quite sure what happened, but Page has become a very good kid again. Two solid weeks on green (here's hoping I didn't jinx it!), only occasional mood swings (that are almost always to do with being hungry) and general sweetness. He even gave me a "mid-air pinky swear" that he'd go out and try his "new" bike yesterday! The one that made him super anxious last summer because it was just a smidgen too big for him.

So, perhaps it's the fact that he's not currently losing any teeth, or maybe he's actually been sticking to the diet (this last week or so... suspicions are there about the previous weeks), or maybe it was my coming out and saying that he doesn't get to go back to karate until he proves he can control himself, and Not! Hit! Anyone! but, well, it's been an awesome two weeks.

The real test will come tomorrow, however. If he treats his dad well after going away, then I'll know that this might be real. Usually he treats Geoff like shit for about a week after a business trip.

ION, I was finally able to make reservations to go see my parents this summer with Page. And, for only $200 more than the total would be were we to fly into Vancouver and hoof it north (really, only about $50 more after you count in bus fare, ferry tolls and gas), we get to fly directly into Parent!City! That will save us, oh, 6 hours of travel time each way? Let's see... an hour minimum (more like two, but probably three) in Vancouver to get to ferry and wait. Two and a half hours on the ferry. An hour and a half drive from ferry... Yep, that's about six hours of travel time after the 10 hour flight time. Anyhoo, I'm super excited as this will save me at least a day, probably three, of recovery on both ends of the trip. And I get to see a new airport (Edmonton)! whee.

And the best thing? While the layovers are wicked short leading to a higher probability of missing a leg, there are multiple flights every day! From every point! So if we miss a leg? There's another three! Hopefully, though, we won't need to use that reassuring information.

Otherwise, life is as it always is. In the garden, the bulbs I planted in the back are coming up (the crocuses are blooming! I'll post a photo one of these days) and there's signs of life from other parts of the garden as well. The winter was so mild that many of the ferns never died all the way back! And it looks like at least some of the yellowstrife survived... And the wild rose got chopped back because it was trying too hard.

In the kitchen, I finally got around to making the yogurt (6 hours to come up to temp? Seriously? Sheesh. Need to remember to wrap a towel around the yogurt maker for that stage till the weather warms up!), and I also made some kimchi! Hopefully it will mellow a leeetle bit, as I think I may have added a little too much red pepper (it looked so anemic!).

I've also been actually using up the veggies I buy. Very odd. And, while I generally love food, I must admit I really do not care for red leaf lettuce. I'm finding I have to have it with fish to counter the bitterness. Blech. (On the plus side, that does get me my omega 3s...)

Aaaand, while I have been very productive (for me) this week, I have also successfully managed to avoid doing any school work whatsoever. Probably not a good thing, that, but I know I can catch up over the weekend or on Monday. Nothing like knowing one's abilities to strengthen the procrastination bug!

And... that's it. Need to go get the kid from after-school pretty quick, so I should hide the bon-bons clean up my mess a bit more so as to set a good example. ;-)
