My shoulder hurts. What annoys me is it's the other side of the one that's been hurting for the last three weeks. No, what really annoys me is it's in that one spot that's impossible to massage myself. Ah well.

A more worrisome item is that one of Geoff's aunt's has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I haven't heard what stage it's at, but she'll be having a mastectomy quite soon on the doctor's advice. So we're rather concerned about her, obviously. However, it was caught early (and she's not young), so the prognosis is good.

It's not all doom and gloom, though!

I worked in the sunshine and heat for several hours this weekend, and although I'm a bit tired and sore, I'm functional. Probably the tired is nothing a nap won't cure. And, of course, I have the beginnings of a garden growing now. The peony transplants will probably look pretty pathetic for the rest of this summer, but should they survive the winter, they should be nice next year. The lemon balm is looking fairly healthy, and even the Q.A. lace has perked up quite a bit. (I didn't mention that yesterday because I thought for sure it was a goner.) So yay!

Geoff fixed the internet speed. I forgot to unplug the wire from the wall when I was resetting the modem, and it seems that (and short-circuiting the connection) was the trick. It is now a reasonable speed, so I can check my gmail again! Yay!

Page loves Kale smoothies as long as they aren't made with blueberries. I had some frozen mango collecting ice crystals that I tried out, and he just adored it! To the point of licking the glass clean! I ran out of mango, though, so I tried strawberries instead, and while the color of the smoothie is really, really revolting (dark-colored glasses and opaque straws are wonderful things!), it's quite yummy and he likes it! So yay! When he's not here, I'll still make mine with blueberries, but it's nice to have a fruit we both can eat (mango doesn't agree with me).

I am eating more vegetables than meat nowadays, and doing well. For a full year there, I wasn't able to tolerate many vegetables, no matter how long they were cooked. They threw my digestion all out of whack. But now I'm piling my plate high with veggies and only taking a few ounces of meat per meal. Not only is this far, far more nutritious, but it's far, far cheaper, too! Yay! I still have trouble with leafy greens (unless they're pureed), like lettuce, and the skins of some veggies, like red peppers, but on the whole, my digestion is, I think, finally healing itself. So much relief! (I do believe I was on the verge of developing Crohn's, if not actually experiencing the onset. It was bad.) I'm hoping that it will only be another year (maybe two) before I can start adding non-glutenous grains and starches back into my diet, which I am really looking forward to, because I miss quinoa!

Geoff and I watched an Avenger's episode last night (Emma Peel and John Steed's "Avengers," not Marvel's), and it really impressed me. It managed, without special effects, sets or such, to set up a real sense of mystery and suspense, even while being rather silly. The end was quite anti-climatic, and the fight scenes were as horrible as one can expect from that show (actually, even one or two of those were done with a fair amount of suspense), but it kept me guessing in a way that no recent show/movie has done for quite some time. So, good writing/staging/direction for the win! (The episode was "The Town of No Return" should you be curious.)

Aaaaaand, that's about it. For now. Oh, except for the fact that there are only four more days of waking up (or attempting to wake up) to the alarm! I am really looking forward to summer sleep-ins!

Comments. I also hate blueberries, except fresh or in pies. Condolences for your aunt. A family friend is going through this right now and I feel very powerless about what to DO about it. My shoulder also hurts. I think I've been sleeping on it funny.

Geoff's dislike of blueberries is stronger the fresher they are, though they will never be his favorite berry in any form. He hates the texture of the skins.

Cancer sucks. And I have no idea what to do about it, either.

It's kind of funny, but all three of us here have the same exact problem spots. We're wondering if it's from using the mouse... I'm sorry your shoulder hurts, though. Hope it's better now.
