Life is good overall. It really, really is. Hell, after one hell of a wrestling match this morning, we even found out that Page's A1C is absolutely normal (5, e.g. 97). Yay!

However, there are grumbles.

Like this chapter on the basics of a computer. My mum might (might) find it useful for its very, very basic-ness, but, good god is it dull! And basic! Two whole pages (about 750 words!) on naming the freaking files?!?! (Not to mention the two pages of defining and differentiating files from folders.)

AAARGH!!!

Ahem.

There have been tidbits of useful knowledge in there, like I now know what a kernel is, but, good god.

And then there's PG Tips. It must be formulated either a) for British water, b) exclusively for those who put tea in their milk (or vice versa, though even that is questionable) or c) both. It is not made for those of us outside of Britain who like their tea with strong flavor and no milk. For us, it is just bitter water. Seriously. If I brew it for two minutes, it has barely a tinge of tea flavor, but the bitterness of a six minute brew. If I brew it for four minutes, it's so unbearably bitter that the actual tea flavor is masked. Blergh!

And I won't even mention the heat. Did you know that all of Maine was hotter than all of Illinois on Saturday? (And it was far hotter in NH than Maine.) That's just freaky. Today is supposed to be a hell of a lot better, however, so yay for the brevity of the heatwave. And also thank goodness for A/C.

But that's about it for grumbles. As I say, they're minor, piddly little grumbles. But I need to get them out so that I stop obsessing on them so that I can focus on this incredibly tedious chapter.

Hopefully it helped. I'll go see if it did now.

Yes, PGTips is brewed for English water and tastes. Plus, it's not very good quality tea, whatever the claims, which is why you get so much bitterness without the tea flavour coming through well.

You'd probably be better off trying Twinings. I drink Yorkshire Tea, which is very good, and they also make a hard water version.

Happy about the a1C although it is a little high...Bernstein shoots for 4.6, I think. Still, good news!

Hah!

I'm allergic to Twinings (I think they add rooibos to the blend over here, and I am definitely allergic to that!), but there are other decent teas around. Quite frankly, the cheapo teas available in the Indian groceries are probably the best around. That and Trader Joe's.

While it may be a very, very little high, it is well within normal range. If I complained to a doctor about that reading, I would be seen as a hypochondriac and any concerns I had afterwards would be poo-pooed.
