[livejournal.com profile] novin_ha is to blame, or to be praised. Whichever.

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Join a church. Yeah. Never thought that would happen, but I'm glad it did. (Though it's distinctly odd feeling uncomfortable admitting that I'm a theist to my fellow churchmembers for fear of their possible rejection.)

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Damn it, I was SOOOO close!!! Six weeks more and I would have kept it. Same one applies for next year, plus another weightier one which I'll get into some other time.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Geographically? Yes. My neighbor did.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No. :-) (This is an oddity for me... life must have balanced recently. I hope.)

5. What countries did you visit?
The West. Hey, it's definitely a different country out there, to hell with political boundaries!

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Financial security. Or rather, knowing that it won't actually get worse, rather than just hoping.

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Rather unmemorable year, really.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting out there and trying, in my very pathetic manner, to socialize. God help me.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Still not learning how to say 'no'.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Besides this damn cold (my voice still isn't back! I can sing again, thank goodness, but I'm an alto for the time being. The shame! XD

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Router. This computer w/o internet makes it useless. W/internet makes it oh-so-much-better than that piece of puke machine I like kicking for the fun of it.

12. Where did most of your money go?
Rent. Health insurance. Food. That order.

13. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Painting the mural. And getting paid for it. Praise for "Safe" and "Green."

14. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Don't think there is one.

15. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier or sadder - Happier, I think. Happy days outweigh the bad ones, anyway.
Older or wiser - older. Hopefully I haven't lost any wisdom, though.
Thinner or fatter? - Possibly thinner, but I think I'm holding pretty steady
Richer or poorer? - Poorer. Monetarily, anyway.

16. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Playing with Babe, spending time with DH, painting, writing, learning how to fit into normal society.

17. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Stressing. Avoiding. Fearing.

18. How will you be spending Christmas?
Here with my parents. Too bad it's too dark up here, cause otherwise my brother and his family might have joined us. Ah well, probably for the best. Anyway, we'll be eating, cooking, eating, opening pressies, listening to music, doing whatever projects come to mind and the like. Not necessarily in that order.

19. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Yes. Or more so, anyway. (Kids are pervasive little buggers!)

20. What was your favorite TV program?
Lost, originally, but Gray's Anatomy and Doctor Who both are surging ahead.

21. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.

22. What was the best book you read?
Letters to Alice Upon First Reading Jane Austen by Fay Weldon, but that's probably only because it was the most recent. Persuasion was awfully good... and I know there were a few others in there as well.

23. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Jingle Bells, the way Babe sings it.

24. What did you want and get?
A storm door. Family around for Christmas. Babe's continued health.

25. What did you want and not get?
A pay raise for DH (or bonus, or reimbursement).

26. What was your favorite film of this year?
Tsotsi, and... um... Cars?

27. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Went out to a going away party for a fellow choir member. Was twenty eight.

28. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Being able to connect with others outside of those who already know me (and know that I really don't mean it the way it sounds, whatever I just said).

29. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Trying to get away from "Land's End" frump back to something that makes me feel like I'm still moderately attractive.

30. What kept you sane?
Flist and anti-depressants.

31. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
*shrugs* Captain Jack Sparrow.

32. What political issue stirred you the most?
Health Care.

33. Who did you miss?
Al.

34. Who was the best new person you met?
Hard to decide. Lots of new people have entered my life this last year or so, and you've all enriched it so very much.

35. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
When you have a bad feeling about something, even if it is irrational or seemingly counter-intuitive, GO WITH YOUR FREAKING GUT!!! Although, maybe I shouldn't count that as "learned", as I still ignore that lesson on a frequent basis.

36. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine"
