I've created the sketches for four out of seven illustrations for my sister's fairytale. Finally. It's only taken, what, 15 years? Now, don't laugh at the quality, as it is only a sketch I created on Paint. The finished illustration will be either pencil or gouache. Haven't decided yet.

Yes, you can laugh at the fact that I use Paint to create anything.

My medium is not digital; I'm a traditionalist. I love the feeling of the actual medium (or medium's medium), whether it's charcoal, pen, pencil or paintbrush, in my fingers, and seeing the image that results from my moving a few tendons in a proscribed way. I like the textile nature of hand's on creation. For images, anyway. Can't read my own handwriting, so writing stories that way is really inefficient and frustrating. Besides which, who doesn't enjoy the use of drag and drop? Best thing about these new fangled typewriters! (That and spell-check)

Now I only have to come up with another three images and cover-art. I've no idea about the cover art, or rather, no idea that actually goes with the style of the illustrations... I know I'll figure something out... Oooh! Just had an idea! Excellent!

Disclaimer: Okay, you'd have to be delusional to think that, a) I'm JKR, b) this is for profit or c) that the characters are mine. Really, really delusional. Therefore, I'll probably forget to include a disclaimer for most of the story, but it doesn't stop it from not being mine, and you know it.

Summary: Follows Snape's writings leading up to, and including, the storyline of "Marry a Choice." The parody here is a little less subtle, in case you hadn't figured that out already. Assumptions abound, including the massive one that Snape has a sense of humor (of which there is no evidence in canon).

AN: All mistakes are my own. Or Snape's.

Snape's Journal

May 16th, 1997

I hate my life. I hate Dumbledore. Bloody omniscient interfering old coot. Just because I tried to slip a little Veritaserum in Minerva's drink... He has no sense of humour where she's concerned.

Hi there :) I found my way here via Ashwinder and I just have to tell you that I've been really enjoying "Marry A Choice" but I'm a wretched reviewer and probably haven't said that on Ashwinder. I'm liking "Snape's Journal" too as I'm clueless as Hermione at figuring out Snape's thought process in MAC. I think Snape has a sense of humor, albeit a rather cruel one, it's just laughing at himself where he has a problem.

Wretched reviewer? So'm I. Every now and again I get guilted into action, but usually it takes a really good plot/characterization/humorous depiction to get me reviewing... and yet I adore those reviews myself. Shameless!

The idea of Snape's POV has been boppin around my head for a while, and I finally got in the mood to write it. It is a WIP, though. One of the reasons I'm posting here instead of TPP or elswhere.

Well, I think sarcasm is a form of humor, but a really nasty type. Granted, this is coming from someone who, as a piddly runtling of a seventh grader, made sure NO ONE messed with me for fear of my retorts. As for Snape laughing at himself... yeah, he needs to lighten up.

Are you only going to put Snape's Journal on here, or are you going to all the entries together and post it on Ashwinder or TPP? Snape's Journal is highly amusing by the way!

I don't know. I want to see where it goes and how it goes before I post anywhere. Also, this is completely unbetaed, so... yeah.

I'm glad you're finding it amusing. I just hope I can keep this one from getting angsty. Or so dark it's hard to see the humor. Or remaining unfinished.

You are really good at the sarcastic wit. I have to make sure I'm not drinking anything when I read this stuff to prevent me from spewing it all over the computer screen! Wherever this ends up going, I'm sure that it is going to be very good; sometimes this stuff just leads you along where it wants to go when you are writing it doesn't it? If it does get a little angsty, and I can definately see that happening based on MAC so far, then I'm sure it will have a chance to lighten back up again, and a little dark humor never hurt anyone! j/k!! And here's to hoping that you do finish it! As for it being unbetaed, I think it is just fine. If you do end up posting it, I'm sure that you will want to have it checked, but I haven't really noticed any mistakes, of course I haven't really been checking for them either as I have been too busy laughing and really enjoying this unexpected treat!

Thanks! Yes, stories do tend to go where they want to go, and usually that's fine. (MaC was supposed to be a 20,000 word short story; without the finished epilogue it's now over 65K). I'm hopeful that this won't turn angsty until where we are with MaC, though, with maybe occasional bouts of angst.

... ... ... ... ... ...

There, got that out of my system (damn ellipses!) Oh, and should have warned you (and everyone else) that the language in Snape's story is going to become less than, um, polite soon. I usually don't use bad language unless the mood really demands it, but in Snape's case... (oops, not out my system yet). Hope you don't have delicate sensibilities.

Well, my new icon is one of them, and that is going to be the basic style. (simple silhouettes) When I've finished I'll take photos and either post them (on deviant) or send them along. How's that sound?

I'd noticed the icon. I'm a fan of silhouette work, so I could hardly miss. =) I'd love to see photos of the final art, if you're willing to share it!

Oh, btw, have you and chris discussed preferences for a sketch/drawing of some sort?

I have a friend who works almost exclusively in electronic format. When she went back to drawing she kept reaching for the top left of the paper when she wanted to "undo."

lol! Back when I was using paint to plan out color schemes and such I had that problem, only my hand went to the right for the mouse.
