I'm in a melancholy mood. Perhaps that's why "Daniel" is running through my head, or maybe my mood is because "Daniel" has been on my mind the last few days?
It's snowing. Not heavily, but it isn't 60 degrees out any more. Which is a bummer. I didn't realize how much I wanted Spring to arrive until yesterday, when it started getting cold again. Bah. But, on the upside, the bulbs are starting to stick their pointy little heads out of the earth, but haven't emerged so much that they're going to be killed off by a frost. Not that Bulbs are usually that delicate. I am really, really looking forward to seeing my bulbs. I hope they all bloom. Hell, I hope just the daffodils bloom, although I sure would like to see the crocuses as well. The tulips are a "whatever" to me, but red is always appreciated.
I'm looking forward to getting into the garden, even if it is a monumental task ahead of me. I just wish I could implement some of my design ideas. There's one for a planter that I think could be really, really cool. Garden art, if you will. The best thing about it would be that, if it works, it would be an awesome winter sculpture. It would be simple to make, as well, if I only had the tools. And supplies. And expertie. ;P
But perhaps I will get around to making the copper flamingo this year. I think I have enough icemaker tubing for that.
Of course, Spring's arrival also means the advent of many projects that require good weather. Like refinishing the island top. Bah. Well, at least I still have money left on that gift card from Christmas.
Yesterday I made 3 loaves of banana bread, and I have enough bananas left to make 2 more. I'll refrain, though. They'll just go into the freezer in a couple of days. (They aren't quite squishy enough yet.) Babe stopped eating bananas again just after we bought a 3 lb bunch. Of course.
Today I'm making turkey stock. Or rather, I'm attempting to make turkey stock. Never done this before.
Anything else I want to babble about? Not really. And Babe's just come up and said, "Wan see Bid Bed" which means that he wants to see Big Bird on the Sesame Street website. So, I guess I better go.
Daniel is travelling tonight on a plane
I can see the red tail lights heading for Spain
Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye
God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes
They say Spain is pretty though I've never been
Well Daniel says it's the best place that he's ever seen
Oh and he should know, he's been there enough
Lord I miss Daniel, oh I miss him so much
Daniel my brother you are older than me
Do you still feel the pain of the scars that won't heal
Your eyes have died but you see more than I
Daniel you're a star in the face of the sky
Daniel is travelling tonight on a plane
I can see the red tail lights heading for Spain
Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye
God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes
Oh God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes
Ah, good ol' Sir Elton. Wasn't "Sir" back then, though.
