I LOVE it. Like the very effective usage of the sweep of his robe and the bits of brown so that Hermione isn't overwhelmed by his strong presence and doesn't just disappear into him. It's gorgeous! The fangrrrl in me is drooling over your Snape. Very, very well done!

Thank you!!! The other version is more of a full length shot, so the robes curl around her, but she does kind of blends in to him (purposely, though). You'll see what I mean. Eventually. (I like the other version quite a bit as well.)

I'm just finishing up another sketch (still on paper) of what I think of as a very Snapish man. Kind of a slight exageration of this one.

This looks like album art. I totally want to hear what's on the album.

(Did I ever tell you about my Roar of Love album, which was a 70s concept album based on The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I know there's some Potter bands out there. The question is whether or not there are fan albums.

BTW - what did all you snape fans think of how book 6 ended and hypothesize about what happens in book 7? Or is that just not important?

No, you didn't. That amuses me. What's it like? There are definitely Potter bands out there, but I've avoided that scene so far. (I may be a tad fanatical about HP, but I', not willing to spend that much time on the franchise, let alone money.)

Um, short answer - we freaked, then rationalized the crap out of the event. We are now convinced (98% sure, (or delusional) anyway) that Dumbledore is an evil manipulative bastard who doesn't really care about anyone as long as he can use them for his ends and that he forced Snape's hand.

We also think that Snape is gonna die book 7. Most likely as a sacrificial (anti-)hero.

Roar of Love

Imagine a mid-seventies Xtian concept album with lots of rock organ and extensive harmonizing. The band is two lady singers, and one man who sings really high. I'll have to play it for you sometime. It's actually surprisingly jamming. My brother transferred it for me to CD last Xmas.

I have no idea what the Hermione/Snape album would sound like, but the Ozzy reference is funny. I think it's really the shape, and the marbled horizon, more than the image itself. Now I'm having the uncomfortable aural echoes of Ozzy songs in the light of their relationship. ...the road to nowhere, leads to me...

The closest comparison I can come up with is Styx? (But that's not really right, though there's lots of synth.)

I hoped Amazon might have some samples, alas, they don't. However they do have samples from two of the other albums that were very big in my childhood:

Phil Keaggy's Master & the Musician. This, like Roar of Love has that Jesus People Renaissance vibe. It's also totally instrumental, so while it's supposed to represent the journey to salvation it caught on with non-Xtian listeners. Keaggy is a fantastic guitarist, still playing today, and supposedly highly influential to many secular players.

Another artist from this period that I still love is John Michael Talbot. He and his brother Terry were in a rock band when they both found Jesus. Terry became evangelical. John became contemplative, eventually founding his own community on the tenants of St. Francis. Come To the Quiet is still one of my favorite albums when I need a sense of quiet space and retreat. He has a Celtic concept album called The God of Life, which is very joyful and also has that Jesus People Renaissance fair thing happening.

I don't know why I'm telling you all this, I just started listening to Roar of Love and got all nostalgic.
