Oi. Oi. oi oi oi.

I just agreed to paint another mural. This one very similar to the other one except with horses.

Do you know how long it's been since I drew a horse? I don't know that I've ever painted one.

I'm sure I will be able to do it, but Oi!

Now I just have to figure out what exactly Chiropractor wants, i.e. what feeling is he's after (peaceful? then the horses shouldn't be running. Dynamic? *sigh* then running horses would be a must, wouldn't it?), what size and shape the wall is and various other things like that.

He says it's a smaller wall. But there are going to be horses.

oi.

I have a couple of weeks to prepare and come up with sketches he might like, though. I really should get them done this week, though, especially as I'll need to visit Chiropractor for an adjustment very soon, and might as well take the sketches with me when I go, right?

Of course, he might not agree to my price... If the wall is half the size of the other one, I'll be charging the same amount, and more if it's bigger than that. That first mural was a hell of a lot of hard work!

Anyway, that's the news.

This is good news!

My mom drove out here and stopped in the town of Ely, Nevada, which has apparently devoted itself to commissioning murals for all their buildigs. It started with a Chinese immigrant who left China after Tiananmen Square coming through town and offering his services in exchange for work and has kind of developed into a thing for their town.

Most of the murals are about mining or other town related things; but something about that idea kind of touched me.

(Though I'm also thinking a mural of horses at a chiropractors office is kind of funny; though my podiatrist had fish mobiles that were actually remarkably soothing.)

Yeah, it is! I think I've heard of Ely, but I doubt I've been there, or if I have, it was so long ago that I don't remember it at all.

It is funny, isn't it? But it's sentimental for him. I think he went horseback riding in the Caribbean while on his honeymoon. And grazing horses (not that they'd be grazing on a beach) are very peaceful to look at...

stick by your price, because I'll bet doing decent horses is way more work than the chiro realizes...

That's what I'm thinking, too. I'd like extra money, but I don't need it desperately. :-)
