My DH theories
Jul. 16th, 2007 11:01 pmFirst, let me say that I have read no spoilers. None. So what is below is only theory with no influence by any supposed spoilers.
I'm sure there are others, but I don't care about them so much.
So, those're my thoughts on the matter. We'll see.
Those who will die:
Harry. Well, actually, it depends. If she goes along the Christ angle, then Harry's toast. If Harry's a Horcrux, then he's most likely done for. If she continues along the Star Wars arc, then Harry will live happily ever after with Ginny.
Snape. Unfortunately, I can't see him getting out of this alive in either case. But he WILL be redeemed ala Vader.
Hagrid. He's too jolly, oafish and good-natured to survive.
One of the Weasley parents... probably Arthur.
At least one of the Weasley children... and it better not be the twins. I will be most upset if she kills off one or both of the twins. And I can see her doing that, too, the bitch.
Pettigrew and Lupin. The end of the Marauders, signifying the end of the era of Voldemort.
Oh, yeah. Voldemort. He doesn't have a chance in hell.

Those who will live:
Ron. I think Ron is the person she decided to save, killing off two others to compensate.
Hermione. Come on, is she really going to kill herself off?
Ginny. She's the Damsel In Distress/Hero's Reward. Damsels In Distress do not die in children's tales. Unless you're Hans Christian Andersen, which JK is most definitely not.
Neville. The boy who lived.
Draco. Someone has to be redeemed and live to tell about it.

Plot Twists:
McGonagall is Voldie's lover. Okay, no, I don't think that's the case, but there is a valid argument that she's going to be the true traitor. It will be revealed that her middle name is Iscariot. (However, I do not put a lot of faith behind this theory as the Goddess Minerva was not the turncoat type and JK does seem to name her characters relevantly.)
Snape and Lily were friends (at the very least), but we all know that, now don't we?
Pettigrew will pay up on his life debt, turning the tide.
The Weasley twins take the perversion of their products personally and focus their brilliant minds upon helping Harry bring down the Snakey bastard!
Dudley does magic.

Plot twists that won't happen:
"Potter, I am your father."
Dumbledore comes back via his own horcrux (hidden much more cleverly than Voldemort's are) and finishes both Harry and Voldie off, leaving him free to reign supreme over the Magical world. He uses his power to ensure that his supply of warm socks is met, not giving a damn about how the political scene shapes up, except to perhaps give a nudge here and there to prospective new dark lords. Life gets boring without a bit of excitement now and again, after all.
Sirius comes back through the veil.
Draco reveals his total devotion to Harry, admitting how ardently he loves and adores the Boy Who Lived.
Hermione dumps Ron for Snape.
Lucius turns out to be good.
Harry and Ginny's wedding night being shown. Or Ron and Hermione's. Or Remus and Tonks'. Thank God! *shudders at the thought of JK's attempts at writing sex scenes*

Date: 2007-07-17 05:39 am (UTC)Her style is to have Ron and Hermione live happily ever after in a perfectly brainless, boring marriage.
Scourgify!
I've been thinking all of this time that it was Lupin that she gave the reprieve to.

It's possible that it's Lupin, but I think it makes more sense in the storyarc for him to die.

Date: 2007-07-17 04:45 pm (UTC)Snape was a saint. (Despite your next entry.) LOL! His hair was not greasy, but silky. His nose was aquiline. His skin isn't really sallow, he just needs a bit more sun. He secretly loved everyone, especially Harry and Hermione.
*has decided to live in an alternate reality and reject that loony woman's ideas*
It might not be Lupin, but I think I looked at it the opposite way from you. I figured that it made more sense in the story arc to kill him and decided that was the reason that he was considered a 'reprieve'. I don't know. Though, it could just be because I figured that it was either him or Ron and I prefer Ron to die.
LOL!

Date: 2007-07-17 04:52 pm (UTC)NO! His nose is hooked, darn it! I like hooked noses! They're better than aquiline in my opinion.
Oh, and I don't know who i'd prefer to die. Lupin is nice, but I bet Ron would grow up to be as cool as Bill, and a really good man. Even if I would choose Lupin over Ron in my bed. *grins wolfishly*

Date: 2007-07-17 05:13 am (UTC)Snape doesn't expect to live, I don't think. He's got a big bullseye painted on his arse.
Harry and Ginny really do have a heap of redhaired greeneyed brats who have floppy bangs and blow stuff up.
Umbridge and Minerva turn out to be seekrit luvahs.
Ron and Draco die in one another's arms, as the result of a botched lust spell.
Epilogue: Hermione becomes the new Dark Lord.
Sorry, I'll go now.

Sirius is totally coming back. Why else destroy him in such a strange and mysterious way? The hard part is that he may come back as a bad guy.
Neville is going to turn out to be very important.

Date: 2007-07-17 04:46 pm (UTC)Oh, yes. I would Love to see the "Potter, I am your father" scene, but I don't really think it's gonna happen. But I do think there's serious potential there. However, she has said that this is n't Star Wars (contrary to the evidence), so...
You think? I haven't ruled that out as a possibility, but... I don't know. It would create sdome great scenes if you're right, especially if you include Snape in there. I would love to see that. I doubt I will, though.
Oh, yes! I like Neville, and ever since it came out that his first wand was his father's, I've been looking forward to his character and power development. He's going to be underestimated to the detriment of someone, that's for sure!
