In my word processor and current font, every time I write "burn," the r and the n combine to make it look like "bum." So what does the last line I just wrote seem to say? Ginny tells Hermione, "You've got a bit of a bum."

Right.

Edited to add the question:

When does Dickens get introduced to the course load in Britain? Would Harry have read it?

Dickens seems kind of Muggle to me, though clearly Rowling read it. The real question is what imaginary author took the place of Dickens in the Wizarding world.

I doubt it. Dickens is more secondary school level, both in the States and out here; Harry would've probably read it if he'd gone to a Muggle school instead of Hogwarts.

That said, he still might have an idea of it. I imagine he'd relate to some of Dickens' characters a bit.

Well, Dickens seems to be one of those national treasures of a historical figure, so I'm sure he'd be aware of him and his stories. I don't think he'd have read it as it definitely seems secondary school, but just wanted to make sure.

However, for my purposes, he doesn't need to have read Dickens, but just have been alive. Some quotes have been absorbed into the cultural id, after all. :-)
