rambling, mostly about SMHC
Jul. 25th, 2007 10:57 amI'm sick, and for once, I'm glad. Or rather, I'm glad to find out that what's wrong with me is the same thing that's been wrong with Babe and it's just a bug. It beats out a flare any day, and yesterday I was defnitely concerned about it being a flare because I wasn't able to do anything except write. I tried knitting (as a low energy alternative), but only got through five short rows before my arms were hurting like the dickens. That was a Not Good Thing.
However, I will say that I had a very, very productive day writing yesterday. I might have even finished chapter 18. Or rather, I have finished what will post as chapter 18, although what I considered necessary before I start what I'd outlined as chapter 19 is still not finished. However the next bit will be best as a separate chapter, and considering a bit of it (an argument... Why the angst? Why?!?) that I wrote last night is over 1500 words, I think I'll have enough to make it into a complete chapter by itself.
Did that make any sense? No. Just ignore me, then.
But, yes, I'm making definite progress on SMHC. Yay! The trial in chapter 17 really was a big blocking point. I'm still not entirely happy with it, but ah well. At the rate I'm writing, though, it's possible that I'll finish the story by the end of the summer. Hell, at the rate I've been going, I might finish it by the end of the month! Don't count on that, though. RL is sure to intervene in the annoying way it has.
So, anyway, I'm off to continue chapter 18b. 2000 words so far. Defintely needs to be a separate chapter, if only for length restrictions (chapter 18a is over 8000 words long).
And three cheers for character development!

Date: 2007-07-25 04:43 pm (UTC)Yes! Squee indeed! It's kind of strange after having been blocked for so long on this that suddenly it's just gushing out of me! I mean, I've written more than 10000 words in the last two days! Well, three days, but the number is also still going up. And that's not counting chapter 17 which I finished before the weekend (and it's over 8000 words, itself). I just hope that what's gushing up isn't all bile. ;-)
And just so's you don't think it's all about the word count, rest assured it isn't. All of this is stuff that I've been planning for ages. Most of it is even necessary. I had no idea how many words it would take to get my out. I'm sure once I've finished I could go back and trim a bit, but for the most part, I think there's little truly extraneous stuff that detracts from the story.
