Movie letter meme
Aug. 26th, 2007 09:56 pmComment and I'll give you a letter. In your LJ, post ten of your favorite movies that begin with that letter. (I'm not counting titles where there's an initial article; if the first important word starts with "A," then I ignore the "The" in front of it.)
renitaleandra gave me the letter M. In no particular order:
!. Mansfield Park
2. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
3. Men with Brooms
4. Moulin Rouge!
5. Monsters, Inc.
6. Men in Black
7. Maverick
8. Minority Report
9. Memento
10. Monty Python's Life of Brian
With The Matrix as runner up. I'm sure I'm forgetting some good ones, though...

Date: 2007-08-27 06:56 pm (UTC)The most recent edition of Mansfield Park (1999) is excellent. The director made Fanny more of an interpretation of Jane Austen herself than sticking to Fanny as written. (In my opinion, this makes for a much better story, but then I didn't like Fanny.) I would hesitate recommending the book, but I have no such hesitations with the movie.

Date: 2007-08-28 07:17 pm (UTC)Love, Actually
Little Shop of Horrors
Life of David Gale, The
Lola rennt (German movie, internationally known as "Run, Lola, Run")
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Léon (known in the USA as "The Professional")
Little Miss Sunshine
Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain (known in the USA as "Amélie")
I know what you mean about MP as a book...I read it myself this year, and there were several scenes in which I could have slapped Fanny, or Edmund, or both for good measure, because they were just SO ANNOYING. It was an okay read, but it's definitely not my favourite Austen book.
I'll keep my eyes open for the 1999 movie - sounds very interesting!
