Pavarotti died. He was only 71. Damn cancer. :-(

I really do need to look into the hormonal factor of MCTD (or other rheumatic diseases), and possible hormonal therapies, whether natural or pharmacutical. Good news is that the improbability factor is still working in my favor and I'm not pregnant (it would pretty much be a miracle if I were to get pregnant). Bad news is that means there's no reason for this hormonal whiplash that's been going on.

And beyond the weeks of PMS, this month is the worst yet for cramps. This afternoon and last night I was pretty much incapacitated, even after taking pain pills (which is also new. My pain tolerance is, or at least used to be, pretty high.) Today, much as I fought against it, I took a three hour nap after popping two advil. Spent the entire time dreaming about being in a drugged stupor (although in the dream it was from benadryl, not advil.) and trying to snap out of it. I guess it was my subconscious fighting my conscious mind, the sub winning because of how little sleep I got last night. But, my waking, responsible mind put up a good fight, and I even managed to drag myself conscious a couple of times to check and see if Babe was still alive and well. He was. Poor, ignored, sick kid.

But, goodness... I haven't felt so... drugged in ages. I guess I needed the sleep pretty desperately.

Speaking of which, I guess I should head to bed now that I'm finally sleepy again. Maybe, if Babe cries out insanely early again, Geoff will take the call. I'm hoping.

My husband has Sjogrens. He tends to become cranky easier and he is always tired! It is just part of the disease. The rhumatologist has him on methotrexate (a low dose chemo pill). They are hoping to put the autoimmune disease into remission. It seems there is a lot of crossover between autoimmune diseases. They tend to run together so it is difficult to make a complete, accurate diagnosis.

Have you seen a rhumatologist? They are the best ones to deal with autoimmune issues.

Sjogrens is one of the things I suffer from, too. It's doing a real number on my gums right now. :-( I can never tell what's causing the fatigue and brain fog, but they are pretty much constants in my life as well.

I was on metho for a few years when I was in my teens, but stopped just before I had to get a liver biopsy, deciding to try the extreme diet route (no sugar, flour, low carb, candida diet) to try and detox (it worked, but boy was it hell to stay on!). I'm part of a research thingy now, and one of the questions they had on the survey before last was if I'd ever been diagnosed with "methotrexate lung." Seems it causes more than just liver damage. (boo)

I'm now on plaquenil. Supposedly staying on plaquenil has a good success rate for staying in remission once there. (Had to take prednisone to get there, though. Ick.)

And yes, I'm seeing a rheumatologist. I plan on discussing all of this when next I see her.

*hugs* I imagine you need them as much as your husband does, if not more!

I do hope the methotrexate puts my husband's sjogrens into remission! I think he has other undiagnosed problems as well (like POTS). I feel like a single parent somedays. How long were you on the methotrexate before yours went into remission?

Hopefully you can get the right combo of hormones to help with your PMS. Who knows, maybe it could be caused by medication you are currently taking.

How severe was your Sjogrens? Do you have a lot of problems with dry mouth, eyes, sinus and bronchitis infections? Have you ever had Aviolitis with it? Have you tried biotene mouthrinse? It is supposed to help with dry mouth / gum problems.

*hugs to you, too*
