randomness
Sep. 9th, 2007 10:34 amSo I was reading a story last night (not one of yours), and it had just got interesting when Geoff came up to tell me Medium was on. It was a rerun of part 2 of 4 of the season finale, and although it was probably one of the four that I hadn't seen, I chose to skip it to read the story which had finally managed to capture my interest. About an hour later, the story added a plot point that was so stupid and pointless that I quit reading and grumbled about bad choices for the rest of the night. I should have cuddled up with Geoff and watched tv together instead of reading a fic that took ten chapters to actually get into.
Bah.

minuet99 made it just for me! She also made me another one which is equally nice but I haven't uploaded it yet. It's sitting on my desktop waiting for attention.

I'm finding an odd compulsion to do things that are actually good for me. Like drink water instead of the ginger ale in the fridge. This is most unusual, but I hope it holds steady for long enough to become habit.

Babe is still ill. Last night he woke up with a very croupy sounding cough just as Geoff and I were going to bed. He's had the cough for several days now, off and on. It always, as is usual for coughs, gets worse at night. Today has the fun task of keeping Babe inside and relatively mellow. Without aid of sedatives. We also get to try and pump him full of liquids. Warm honey-lemon water should be okay, as will bengal spice with honey. Fortunately, he's a water drinker as well, so hopefully he'll drink plenty without too much manipulation.
If it isn't better by tomorrow, (even though during the day he seems perfectly fine, to the point of being hyper) I'll take him to the doctor. I think it's allergies that's causing this. It is, after all, ragweed season.

Today was the first day of church for the season, but, because of Babe, we didn't go. Geoff is getting ready to go to a meeting that's during coffee hour (he's signing up to be one of the RE teachers again), so that'll be good. I was actually looking forward to going to church, although I'll admit that was before the two wake-up calls Babe gave in the middle of the night.

It's raining. Thank God. It was stifling yesterday, and last night was so humid I wondered if it was going to start raining inside. I'm also glad because I've been very bad about watering the plants lately, and... well, this should save them. Just in time for fall!

I've got the Pay It Forward gifts almost done. Rather, I have four out of five done, with the fifth just needing to be put together before it's done. Whee!
I'm kind of wibbling about them, hoping they're all good enough, and hoping the recipients will like them, but I think they're decent enough to give.

Still working on chapter the next of SMHC. I only have a tiny little portion to write, but it is going very, very slowly. I'm pretty sure I'll have to rewrite the bits I've written again, but it'll get done eventually. I keep deciding that what I've written is either beside the point, or not the right time to put in. The chapter after this is going to be an emotional one (for the characters, anyway), and I need to lead up to it, but not get into the emotional bits too much.
Did I mention that the next chapter is a (relatively) short one? Cause it is.

Otherwise, I'm kind of bored. The weather is such that I can't work on the patio, or do any of the house painting projects inside. I'm also just tired enough, from a week of interrupted sleep, to not have enough focus to do anything that requires concentration or any fiddliness. Oh, and I'm sneezing like a madwoman, so that's taking a bit out of me as well. (My sneezing fits are rather explosive, and leave me really quite drained. I call them anti-orgasms for a reason.)
I really do need to make that zucchini bread... the zucchini is about to bite it... but I am so unmotivated when it comes to food. Eating, cooking, whatever, I just don't want to go into the kitchen. Although I did make a big vat of spaghetti sauce last night. It would have been really good had I not forgotten the salt. But I added it in after dinner, and let it simmer another hour, so it should be tasty amd fine now.
But I need to make that bread. And probably make some real bread, too. Today's the day to do it, cause tomorrow is going to be hot again.
Bah.

Now that Geoff's gone, I guess I should put on some pants or something. I imagine the neighborhood kids will be around in the next break in weather to see if Babe can come out and play. And kids are so easily embarrassed...

Date: 2007-09-09 03:44 pm (UTC)I can't wait to see what I'm getting in the mail! It'll be hard not to check my mailbox often. Though, considering how far away it is... it'll be good to get the exrcise!
Yay you for healthier drinking and eating. I need to cut down on my portions... that's my new trick.
I'm sorry Babe isn't feeling well - I hope he feels better soon!!
