I've been wondering why I haven't heard from Geoff yet (he was supposed to finish last night, and I was surprised he didn't call last night, let alone this morning), and I finally decided to give him a call only to find the phone line is out.

But the internet isn't.

The phone in this house is beyond weird. And more than a little frustrating.

Ach well. If he isn't back by five, then I'll start worrying.

Do you have dialup internet? If so, can you plug your phone into that line for outgoing calls?

Nope. All jacks are dead. I'm thinking of taking the phone out back to see if it's as I think and the whole line is dead. This happens from time to time. Once we were without phone (but not internet) for three days.

THen I'll see if the neighbors phone is working, and if so, bum a call off of their line. ;->

Of course, it's raining right now, so perhaps waiting a little would be a good idea.

Some cell phone companies have websites where you can send messages. If Geoff's phone accepts messages, this might be another option.

Heehee! Oh, that would be good, except, of course, he's probably driving at the moment, so he'd be kind of hard to reach.

Ah, but receiving a telegram wasn't necessarily a good thing, though.

Kind of makes you wonder how the military deals with that kind of thing, now. I think its been standard to send someone for sometime now. That some people have the job of going to give the bad news.
