Or perhaps I am just in a bad, bad mood. Are they exchangeable? Interchangeable? I don't know.

All I know is that instead of having a lunch hour with Geoff before he left, Babe and I only got quick kisses goodbye. His airport shuttle arrived here before he did.

I am also annoyed because five minutes after he left, the smoke alarm started chirping. Thing is, I can't figure out how to get the freaking toip off, and am nervous about trying too hard since I think this one is wired in to the house electricity (and don't even get me started about the STUPIDITY of the state requiring wired-in smoke detectors. What if the house power turns off? Well, I guess that's what the battery is for).

I am also annoyed because, for some reason, my "Peter Gabriel" Pandora station decided to play only instrumental pieces. I do not mind instrumental pieces, but I don't want all instrumental pieces on my Peter Gabriel station, dammit! I want my Peter Gabriel and U2 and Simple Minds and Genisis and Pink Floyd and such! Somewhere, somehow, it seems to have melded with my Ike Quebec station though, and that's bugging the shit out of me! Can I not have separate tastes? (Although my garbage/Korn station seems to remain free of jazz influences. ;-)

(In fact, it bugged me so much, I deleted the station. Grr.)

Just... grr. And I wrote something that needs to be rewritten and I really don't want to have to rewrite it because the subject matter grates on my nerves something fierce. It's part of the reason why I'm in such a foul mood. Although that chirping is a very, very close second.

Grr.

The chirpping means the battery needs to be changed and if you don't do it soon, the thing will go off continuiously. To take off the smoke detector, turn it to the left (I think). It will have a connector for the wires. Grab the connector (No, it will not shock you unless you see bare wires) and pull it straight down and off. Look first to see if it has a clip that needs to be detached. Change the 9v battery and reattach. That should solve the problem.

Turns out, a portion got painted together (oops), meaning it was almost impossible to turn. After I attacked it with a knife, it came out happily enough, though. It turns out that this smoke detector (we have several) isn't hard-wired, so it's a cinch to deal with. :-)

Now I just need to go out and buy the proper batteries. Ta.
