Feeling a bit better. I think I'm allergic to either cabbage or beets. I think I was reacting to the borscht as much as anything. Also, I've figured out my needs a little better. 10 glasses of water a day plus just a little bit of grain every meal makes me much less hungry and my head less swooshy. Thank goodness for quinoa and corn!
I've decided I need to cut down my expectations of what I'll get done before I leave for Canada mid-December. In order of priority, I need to: a) do all the stuff necessary for the Holiday Fair (due date: November 30); b) Finish Exchange piece (due date: November 16th); c) make at least one outfit for The Plan (due date: December 12th).
That's reasonable, right? The Holiday Fair will require me making something like 50 cards and 20 slightly larger prints (longest part of this printing process will be making the print blocks), with two of the five new designs already sketched out.
The Exchange piece will need a lot of work, but since I figured out how to write it, it will probably be a LOT shorter than I was fearing, so it's possible I won't need an extension.
The outfit... well... That should only take a weekend. It's just the getting to it which is the hard part. And the adjusting of the pattern...
So, I guess I should get busy, eh? But first, I think I have a hungry boy to attend to. (And thank goodness he is eating again! Although it smells like he's got what Geoff had... ew.)
Ah, the joys of motherhood.

Date: 2007-10-10 12:15 am (UTC)BTW - cabbage disagrees with me VIOLENTLY. And it really smells when it happens. (I know, TMI, but it might be what's going on with your toddler.)

Date: 2007-10-10 12:36 am (UTC)Alas, cabbage is not to blame for Babe's malaise. He is in the eats-only-PB&J stage. Took one sniff of the borsht and fled. I can't tell you what a morale boost he is when it comes to cooking. We had a contest of wills the other night just for him to try his grilled cheese sandwich. As a lesson of irony, I read him "Green Eggs and Ham," which he loves. (Oh, and grown-ups won the contest, and, of course, he loved the sandwich.)
I need to read up on Dr. Seuss. Can't remember his real name at the moment, but, goodness does he know kids!

Date: 2007-10-10 02:59 am (UTC)I hated Dr. Seuss as a child. (Exception: Mr. Brown Can Moo.) Mostly because by the time I got to him, I could already read and found his work to be super patronizing.
I do love, however, how kids relate to his work now. All the nonsense words, and what he did with regard to language acquisition/reading. It was really revolutionary for its time.

Date: 2007-10-10 03:53 am (UTC)So what did you hate about Amelie? (With Punch Drunk Love there's lots to hate; I just happened to like it.)
I guess Dr. Suess was introduced at the perfect time for me. Probably when I was about three, if going by Babe's reaction is any indication. I'm thinking Babe's linguistic skills are about on par with what mine were at that age. From what I gather, anyway.
Of course, I liked some books way better than others, and I'm finding that my favorites weren't Dr. Suess at all. Like Robert Smells a Rose, and Are You My Mother? Although Bartholomew Cubbins was another favorite, and that is the Dr.'s

Date: 2007-10-10 04:23 am (UTC)Amelie was just too cute for me. It irritated me. Calculated quirky often makes me feel irritated. Although I liked it better than Chocolat, which was just as annoying, but even more sentimental. Bleah!
