Because I'm stuck on my exchange piece...

Once upon a time, in a land better known to the locals than us, there was a not quite fair maiden, trapped in an ivory tower. She hadn't intended to become trapped in the tower, and her friends had warned her of the dangers, but the lure of books and knowledge had been much too much tempting, and so she now found herself ensconced in a room full of books, doo-dads and ideas.

Once the tower had lured her in, she found it a pleasant place to live. She had the resources available for studying her ideas, she had people of like mind to discuss those ideas with, and she had the responsibility to share what she had learned with those who hadn't yet learned.

It was seemingly perfect.

Her friends periodically tried to rescue her from the tower. They would take her to the local pub, give her butterbeer, and tell her their troubles. She would nod politely as she listened, but whenever their conversation shifted to looking at the darkness on the horizon, she would suddenly think of a solution to one of her many idealogical problems and find herself back in the tower, working toward her personal salvation.

Her friends were growing weary of her absentmindedness, though. "One day you won't be able to avoid it!" they'd cry after her, as she ran back to her tower. "One day, you will find yourself all alone in the dark!"

She didn't heed them, though. The darkness wasn't of any importance to her. She knew better than to be afraid of the dark, and if it happened that she did feel nervous, she always had a wand to light the way back to the tower, for she knew the tower would always protect her.

Now, in every good story, there must be a hero to rescue the heroine. Each of her friends tried valiantly to be that hero, to rescue her from the tower, but they had not the right qualities to succeed. They were brave, strong and had large, caring hearts. They wanted the best for her. So, every time they tried to rescue her, their tender care enshrined her just a little further in the tower.

No, the hero who could rescue her from the tower needed to be a stranger. A person who held darkness and sorrow in his heart. A person who would not care about her ideals as he invaded her space. Someone who wouldn't feel remorse at introducing her to the dark, and teach her why her friends were so scared.

And, one night, that hero appeared.

Anyone want to take it from here?

I like it, and it's very tempting, but for the moment I have zero inspiration.
