Okay, this election is almost over.

THANK GOD!!!

Now, my dear Americans, it is time to review what maybe should be changed in election laws.

For example, many countries of a civilized nature limit campaigning time. Imagine only having to put up with this political shit for 6, 4, or even a mere 2 months? Wouldn't that be nice?

Another thing that would be nice is if everyone, no matter what office they are running for, were limited to State and/or Federal funds. Nothing else. No lobbies. No special interests. No shenanigans. No (obvious, clear-cut path to) corruption. That would also solve the inequality of the ruling class. Everyone could run, not just the rich or smooth talkers.

Also, a biggie for me would be making election day a federal holiday. Hell, add parades and marketing and everything, but let EVERYONE have the day off, except, of course, those who volunteer at the polls. And reward them with time and a half.

Another thing I would like to see would be a reduction of media polls. The only poll that matters is the one where people vote. Really, truly. The rest is just advertising and hype from a not very non-partisan special interest group called "The Media." Instead of all the polling info, give people the information on the candidates for all the campaign season.

And speaking of the media, how about not giving out ANY information on results until ALL the polls have closed, including Hawaii? No exit poll data, no tallies, nothing.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Anything you would like to see? Not see? Do tell. It's your first amendment right!

1) Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.

2) Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.

3) Include these instructions, and share the love.

I also will use two.

Halloween...

and today.

Thank you, friends, for your reassuring words and good advice. Last night was a bad night; all the little stresses and worries (especially those I was refusing to acknowledge) had added up and, compounded with the exhaustion from the busy weekend, made for a big wad of insecurity. A decent night's sleep helped tremendously. And remembering important things like mid-terms and patience. Not to mention your kind words...

So, thank you. I'm feeling much better and will refrain from such wanton words of worry until further notice. The alliteration, I'm afraid, won't be going away anytime soon, though.
