*growls* And Lost thoughts

Just did our taxes. I shouldn't be growling, because we are getting a substantial refund (most, if not all, of which will be going toward Babe's schooling for next year), but...

Right. Let's just say I am not pleased with the numbers in certain boxes.

*grrrr*


In other news, finally watched Namaste (LOST) last night. A few thoughts ( that won't make much sense unless you've seen the episode. Spoilers implied. )

Out of the mouth of Babe

This morning, Babe came to join us in our bed before we got up. Geoff and I were talking about how much Babe resembles my Grampa, both in temperament and looks. I related to Geoff how similar Babe looks to photos of one of my uncles from long ago, and how my Grampa thought those had been pictures of himself.

Geoff then asked which uncle it was, and I responded Donny, the one who had died when he was thirteen.

Babe had been listening quietly until then, but at that point he asked, "What leaves when he dies?"

I blinked for a moment, then asked him what he thought.

He paused to think for a moment, then said, "The bones leave."

"The bones are actually often the last things to leave," Geoff the materialist said, while I interpreted things slightly differently.

"Do you mean that something deep inside leaves?" I asked.

Babe nodded. "Yeah." And then he decided it was time for breakfast.


*blinks*


He's such a normal boy for the most part, obsessed with guns and hitting and making me feel like the worst mom in the world, and then he goes and reminds me that he's my Little Lama. (Which, as my mum pointed out, might be one of the reasons he doesn't take too kindly to my bossing him around, me being a mere woman, after all. ;-)

It also makes me wonder about his answer to that mom meme question: "How are you and your mom the same?"

He turned to look straight at me and said, "Because we're older."
