SMHC ramblings )

As for the rest of life... I have to remember not to take pain killers in the morning. I took another six hour nap again today, but this time Geoff wasn't around to watch Babe, so Babe made a few messes. Poor kid. I feel for him having such a tired mom, but sometimes, it can't be helped.

Fortunately, by the time I did wake up, the weather had cleared up enough to go for a bike ride. Just around the cul-de-sac, but that was nice. I'm so glad he's gotten over his Christmas crash... Well, except for not wanting to ride his new bike. But that will pass soon enough.

And then he went and played with Neighbor!girl for a few hours. Yay! She's so smitten with him, it's cute. And it's hilarious how he just shrugs it off. He'd rather be playing with the boys. *g*

Earlier today I was bitten with the moving bug again. I looked up available jobs in Saskatchewan, since, if we move anywhere it would probably need to be someplace with good public health care.

Thing is, I don't know if I can live in farm land. Our allergies are bad enough here in suburbia, and that would be one of the main reasons for moving anywhere. Well, besides getting Geoff away from his current job.

God, he needs a new job! One that doesn't dumb him down or make him feel so damn inferior!

But that's old news. So I'll save it for when it reaches the boiling point again, whenever that may be.

What else?

Um...

Yeah. Life's pretty boring. I'm enjoying Lost, but whenever Richard comes on screen, I now think of him as Loki. It takes a second to remember his character's real name. And the teaser for the next episode is confusing. How do those three get back on the island?

But I can't wait for the season cliffhanger. It should be a blast! Even if they do mess with the theory of chronodynamics.

Anyway, that's all right now. Hope you all are well.

Just did our taxes. I shouldn't be growling, because we are getting a substantial refund (most, if not all, of which will be going toward Babe's schooling for next year), but...

Right. Let's just say I am not pleased with the numbers in certain boxes.

*grrrr*

In other news, finally watched Namaste (LOST) last night. A few thoughts that won't make much sense unless you've seen the episode. Spoilers implied. )

*sighs*

Well, at least one thing is off my mind now. Babe has been having a rough week and a half, starting last Monday. I still can't believe he actually hit another boy without provocation, but there you have it. However, because of the hitting incident (everything else is perfectly normal, if not annoying as hell), I emailed his teacher to ask her opinion about whether he is actually ready for school. She finally got back to me (computer problems delayed her) and reassured me that he's definitely ready.

Which is a relief.

On [livejournal.com profile] timestep's friend's advice, I picked up "Positive Discipline" by Jane Nelson and have been reading it in my spare time, mostly in the bathroom. It's a book both Geoff and I need to read to be really effective, but I think it will help. Maybe. He's a stubborn sod (he gets it from me), and I'm tired so much of the time... (How awful it must be for him to have such tired parents. Especially introverted, tired parents.) But. We'll get there. Figuring out how to diffuse and get rid of the power struggles will be the biggest problem, but I do think we'll get there. The book's advice is sound.
