Date: 2008-01-30 06:10 am (UTC)Spirit's there, it's just a totally different kind of relationship than it used to be. I've been like a flickering light bulb, lately; my cosmology is all over the place from day to day. I realized the other day while talking to a friend who is very intelligent, but not particularly connected emotionally, that what I'm supposed to be learning now is not just how to deal with my gift for truth/honesty without having massive personal repurcussions; but to learn how to apply it with kindness. Without love it all too quickly becomes cruelty.
And yes, I'm totally claustrophobic. It's gotten worse over the years, though my anxiety has totally subsided since I left NYC.

For me, granted it had only just opened, so it still had that new feeling to it that is not necessarily a good thing for a coffee shop, it was rather sterile. I much prefered Mars. Although they sold out and went modern-techno and ruined it after only a couple of years.
But it's always nice to have magical places. You seem to have quite a few...
As for love/truth...I know this is not the kind of honesty you're talking about, but I remember vividly one day lying in front of my parents. A friend's mom had phoned looking for him and I told her that he'd been over and left just a little bit before, going for a drive to who knows where. By himself. However, he had not been by, and I knew very well that he'd been out with another friend of mine whom his mother did most vehemently not approve of (almost certainly because the other friend was gay).
My parents listened to me lying with a raised eyebrow, but I knew that truth would be far more destructive than that little white lie. When I explained the situation to them, I think they agreed. And that was one of the only times I think I've ever lied convincingly.
Sorry. Got distracted there.
I'm glad the anxiety has decreased at least!
