If looking for a book, my husband has always liked : "What Color Is Your Parachute? 2008: A Practical Manual for Job-hunters and Career-Changers" by Richard Nelson Bolles.
We've gone through several versions over the years. Only recently has he turned to a job search firm. Not too sure about 'net sources, but I'm sure there are tons.
So far, the firm has taken the resume he had and asked him to completely rework it. Instead of listing by job, it is more of a list of skills he has acquired over the years and how they could apply to jobs not in his current field. It definitely makes the resume more "modern". It's been a while since he's written one so the change is probably a good one. They then move on to identifying potential employers. This could mean a big move for us.
